Just made a deal on new GT3 :) ($8,500 off MSRP)

Found out the original car I was looking at had its warranty ticking since 5/1/04 so I crossed that off the list since they didnt even tell me about that little factoid!

Found another deal (Chicago area) who is selling me $108.5k msrp car for $100k. They've only had it since 7/6.

Options:
Black on Black
CUV - Storage Cmpt Lid W/GT3 Logo
CSW - Electric Sport Seat Right Side
CSV - Electric Sport Seat Left Side
Z0997 - Custom Tailoring
Y05 - Brake/Shifter Carbon/Aluminum
C02 - U.S. Standard/Emissions
X69 - Carbon Door Sil Model Insignia
M6A - Black Mats - Porsche lettering
573 - A/C with Full Climate Control
P74 - Xenon Headlamp Package
X71 - Aluminum Instrument Dials

Should be here in a couple weeks, will of course post pics then!

To play devil's advocate , you knocked off 8K worth of " fluff " accesories that wouldn't be recovered on resale save the Bi-Xenons and it's almost 2005 model year , so it may not be that great a deal , IMO.

What accessories aren't "fluff" other than Xenons? PCCB are junk, everything else is fluff other than full leather I guess.

I think I got a pretty good deal, and I'm the only one that matters. ;-) hehe

Congratulations Scott. Going from White to Black - radical change!

As for the PCCB's - I think you know not what you speak of. Don't believe everything you read on forums!

You may not think they are worth the 8 grand but it is stretch to call them junk.

Anyway - have fun with the GT-3. Moving from a C4S to a GT-3 was the best idea I've ever had (about cars anyway).

OK the PCCB's arent junk per se but from what I understand for track use it sounds like they are a bad idea and a PIA.

Congrats. I just finished reading your poll on the TT board. Were you aware of the car you bought at the time you walked away from the other deal, or did you find it afterwards. If you found it afterwards, what luck! OT, why is it going to take two weeks to get the car from Chicago to Virginia?

David:

The other dealer called me last night, I found out about the original car this morning. So it was certainly fortunate! I did have another car I was also considering so even if he hadn't called I would have had another car to fall back on!

Just need time to setup payment, get paperwork done, etc. Not sure how long everything will take, plus I want to sell my 996 cab in the meantime, so I dont mind waiting a bit.

The 8k off is probably because of colour.

Well, I'm using them for track use with no problems so far. If you read some of the other threads on other boards (as well as this one) you my find that there have been a few problems. Probably one of the most experienced tracks guys got 9,000 track miles out of the rotors. This sounds like exceptional wear to me - I know a couple of guys that are experincing cracking steel rotors after 1,500 track miles. This seems a bit of the norm.

Don't flame me - this is no scientific study but the general feeling I get is that the PCCB rotors far outlast steel. Now considering the higher replacement cost (now down to about $4500 and dropping) this doesn't seem to be a bad deal. My mechanic (who has much race experience) tells me that if I am careful with pad wear (don't let them get too thin) the rotors should be fine.

It appears that Porsche is improving the PCCB from when they first appeared on the GT-2 through the CGT.

But hey - you do what you want. I use my GT-3 now almost exclusively at the track with PCCB's. I bought the car spec'ed that way and I'm not sure if I would have gone for the PCCB's if I'd had the choice. But in my mind the jury is still out. If I get 9,000 track miles from them I will be very happy. I expect to do less then 3,000 miles a year on the track so new rotors every 3 years (even at this expense) doesn't seem bad - in fact it seems good!

Well see what happens.
