GT3 RS phase II
from what I hear the 2011 will be the new engine. Direct injection but no dry sump. Possibly a GT3 but no RS in the foreseeable future. Kind of makes sense since but it's like the discussion back in 1973 ..... S vs RS. I guess the market has answered that issue fairly convincingly. Unfortunately the same market makes it hard for me to take my 73 RSR to the track. Oh Well.
For those of you that don't speak Dutch, here's a rough translation; "precise details are not yet known, we do know that the car will get a new 6 cylinder with direct injection that will have approx 450 HP. The car will also introduce LED front and rear lights. Finally the car will also be available with DSG. The RS remains the most pure of all the 911's. The rear seats have been replaced by a cage, and extensive use of Carbon makes the RS lighter then the normal GT3. We expect the new RS on the market before the end of the year."
My guess is that the 2008 RS is the last one we will see for awhile.
The car being tested and shown is the 2009 GT3, not an RS.
The 2009 will have F/R LED's, DSG and a Direct injection 3.6. The front and rear bumpers will be revised and the rear spoiler will resemble an RS, but is narrower.
I expect the 2009 to be available for sale later this year, with a deliveries set to take place starting early 2009.

Almost the same GT3/RS bumper as the current car. The 09's will have a slightly different shape around the tail lights due to the LED's and will have slightly different venting.
The pictures shown are pre-production disguise with tape over the vents.

I have been told by a fairly reliable source that the next Generation RS will be built on the Audi R8 body and it will be a mid engine V-8 as the Audi Different looking of course! This makes sense if you look at racing side of things, It's evident Porsche needs to make some changes if they are going to keep up! A mid-engine lay out would make sense! Look out Ferrari! Owners of RS's hold on to your cars the value will soar if this happens!
