the easiest way I know of is to drive it up my driveway without using a very sharp angle...although, it takes some skill to get it off in one piece....some of robert's tequila will help with that...

Hey guys, I need some help and advice. I had removed the 2 screws/fasteners under beneath the painted front lip; however, the lip still stayed intact firmly . I was not able to move it a bit. Any other approach or trick to remove the OEM painted lip so I can replace it with a cup lip?

there is more to it...from another member...

its very easy, i already replaced mine once. there are just two screws one on each end, and then the top edge of the spoiler clips into the bumper. I used a thin plastic squeegee and placed it between the lip and the bumper and that causes it to separate. Then you just pull down and towards you gently. Installation is the reverse.

^so you don't need to jack up the car to do it, right? Thanks.

Thanks Chuck for the idea. I didn't find virtually any space in between the lip and the bumper. I couldn't insert anything, not even a thin plastic film using your method. Any thoughts?

should work for a 997...you might give an out and down tug of the lip while trying to get a thin item in the gap...

I will be doing my "cup lip" replacement this coming week also. Because it is painted there is little to no gap between the bumper and lip. Mine is also painted. We may need to jack the car up to get under the front lip and use a flathead screw driver to help force the clips out from the underside w/o prying the front.

here is a link that may be helpful ed03feng

Note: you will see the cup lip has a hole on each end on the side. (not on the bottom like the oem lip) You will have to drill a hole in each wheel well to mount the sides. I like to idea of using a reuseable plastic rivot - you can always use the plastic screw to cover the hole if you go back to oem.

I replaced several spoiler lips and didn't use anything to wedge between the bumper and the lip. Just pull it straight towards you. Remove the sides first. Face a wheel, grab and pull the lip towards you. Repeat on the opposite side. Then, facing the front of the car, grab the spoiler lip and pull straight towards you. It couldn't be simpler.

For some reason I thought the clips are two part fasteners. The outer part slides through the spoiler slot and into a corresponding slot on the body. You may have to hold it and the spoiler in place. The inner part looks like a large plastic tack that when you push it in to the hole in the outer part, It expands once inside to hold everything in place. If you have to remove it, just get a small screwdriver and pry it out and reverse the process.

I have replaced mine numerous times. After removing the plastic screws on either end, you need to pull firmly starting on either end as described above. There will be some resistance, but you will not break anything. If you start from the center you will notice that the lip slides out fairly easily from there (versus either side closest to the wheels).

Thank you for all your helps. Shame on me. I was not able to get the spoiler off after many attempts so I turned to one of the local body shops since they were going to get my original spoiler repainted anyway. Here are the before and after photos for you all to enjoy. Sorry for the low iphone photo quality.
