my 997 gt3 makes a loud thump noise on cold start up. it happens as soon as i release the clutch. i'm taking it to the garage on monday but just want to see if anyone here knew what this was?

 

Is it in reverse when you release the clutch?Mine does it,something to do with the locking plates in the LSD.

 

no it happens immediatly when i start up in neutral and release the clutch. i tried again this morning and there was no noise.

 

I have a GT3RS and it did the same??

 

it just happened again and i noticed that it is not related to releasing the clutch. i kept my foot on the clutch and it made that same loud noise. i took my camera down with me this time and recorded the noise to take it to the dealer.

i will try to find out what it is tomorrow.. is this the first time you notice yours? or has it been happening?

no one else out there has noticed this?

vramani, got my car back from the dealer after 3 days! turns out its a problem with the muffler. the flap that opens up (in sports mode i'm assuming) is getting stuck. they said they needed another 2 days to fix it.. no patience so i took it anyway. i've noticed that if i switch off the sports button before switching off the car, i dont get the noise on a cold start.

anyway.. wasn't a busy thread so i am assuming not many out there have faced this problem.
