The German Magazine Auto motor & Sport is saying that the new 535hp Audi R8 v10 has beaten the ZR-1 on the ring, AMS is a very reliable magazine and would not make this up if it there was no truth in it. I´ve also heard that Porsche is coming with a faster GT2 model with 600hp just to be number 1 on the list again. This is getting out of hand, this times that the cars run now is så f-ing fast!
But i love it!

Owning an R8, I find this hard to believe. The V10 will be fast, but I doubt it will shave 30-40 seconds off. I heard it did 7:39 with a DTM test driver, or so says someone at Quattro GmbH.
Also, how would an R8 be faster than the LP560? I'm pretty sure that all the better components from the R8 got moved to the LP. The engine is also the same, but with 35 less hp and it should still weigh more.
However, if the GT-R can lap it as fast as it can with so much weight and it's power, it wouldn't be impossible for an R8 to. We'll have to just wait and see.

Everything seems to point to no at this point. The V10TT kept overheating. It would also totally undercut the LP560. If they didn't care if the R8 was faster than the LP560, they would have given in the same power. Both use the same engine, yet the LP560 will have 35 more hp, though the same amount of torque.

Has the LP560 been tested on the ring yet? I've yet to read a time.
Well, glad I've got a deposit on one then. I think I'm fourth on the V10 list, which should mean I'll take delivery sometime around 2017 given the rate that US dealers are getting allocations...
There was a green one seen with some SportAuto guys at the Ring some weeks back, so I think the Supertest with the Ring-time should be in one of the next issues.
True, but look at the GT-R. On paper it doesn't seem like it should be able to do what it does, but it can. It's lighter than the GT-R, has 45 more hp, 30 less torque, and a proven chassis. Maybe that extra 100 hp and 90 torque are all it needs. On paper, it looks like it's possible.
