out of curiousity because i am somewhat tracking the market on these things, did you have a deposit on it? If not, did you have to pay over sticker? feel free to PM me or just ignore if you don't want to answer i totally understand.

I did not have a deposit on it. When they were first announced I thought they were too expensive and I didn't want to tie that much up in one...so I didn't put a deposit down when my dealer asked me. After reading all the reviews and previews (and with my business doing really well) I decided I wanted one...well, anyway to make a long story short I directly paid the dealer the retail price and I paid a small fee (very small) to the guy who had his $50K wrapped up for a year. I am very happy with my deal.

BTW, when I started looking I found several that were available or almost available around the country..but most all of them were Silver and although it is Porsche's most popular color I personally don't like that color at all. I vowed I would get ANY other color. Yellow, Red, Black, etc..The Black is simply stunning.

On a side note, you would be blown away to hear how many dealers said they had one (or one on the way soon) and they would call me back..I have yet to hear from anyone of them...and this was after qualifying myself with having a TT and Boxster, etc.. Salespeople can be so lame sometimes. (and I can say this, I am one) <gr> I love to watch a great salesperson work and I hate how the bad ones borrow credibilty and ruin the reputation of the good ones.

Congratulations Chuck on your black beauty !
BTW, Orient Red is the BEST color for the Turbo I've seen on the road . That would have been the color I would have ordered if not for being impatient and buying a black one off the dealer showroom floor. Too bad they've discontinued it for that dark murky rental car color " Carmon Red "

yes, I agree...I love the color! To this day, I have not grown tired of it all.

BTW, it is very interesting to contrast my C-GT, TT, and my Boxster S. The all have very, very different personalities..

The Boxster S is fun and "spirited" - a true blast to drive every day. I love the mid engine, very balanced feeling, with a very comfortable "touring" suspension. Convertible is cool. Lots of great trunk space - front and back!

My Turbo (with Stage 4) is wicked fast, but now after getting the CGT it feels very civilized to drive around town...in fact, it is more fun than ever to drive. . .and I swear, at least off the line it is faster than my CGT and maybe up to the legal speed limit <gr> Less trunk, but you have a small back seat to put stuff in.

The C-GT is just raw performance and a true super car! Although the built in Bose Pro system sounds better than I thought it would, the real music is the sound of the engine. It is so sweet sounding cruising the highway with my windows rolled down. It is a pretty rough/tight ride on most streets and the clearance is really low. There is something they call a trunk in the front, but it is STUPID small. It can only hold the car cover, or the 2 tops - not both, and nothing more! Our 2 lb dog has to sit under my wife's feet unless the cover is there. It is really hard to get in and out of, but once in, I fit fine. I am not sure where you would put ANY luggage in it. I am sure if I ever get a chance to drive the CGT at fast speeds (of course, only on a track <gr>) that it would pull away from the TT at 100+mph speeds.
