Carbon Fiber Door Sills

Which looks better, regular length or the longer ones that go up the side of the sill a bit? Quick, I need feedback!

The reason I am doing the sills (and later the pieces just inside the door) is those are the pieces which get beaten up the quickest and the easiest. You look at those things sideways and they scuff; I hate it.

I am scared of LWFW. Too many "engine go boom" stories.

Not aware of the "boom" stories on the 996-3, only 997-3
I have had mine for 10k miles with no issue and another guy in my area (track regular) has had it for 60k with no issues

Btw - I like the long ones

True, the only boom stories I have heard a wrt 997(987) models, but it would seem like the principle applies equally regardless of model line...? And if I understand correctly, every installation would have a different situation, with some engines being nearly in balance, while others might be way off, meaning a few anecdotal stories would be of limited use. Of course the whole phenomenon is still somewhat mysterious, but I can't afford a new engine, I do know that.

Mine have scuffed pretty badly as well. I try to keep some vinyl protectant on them which cover the problem somewhat, but I still notice the scuffs every time I get in or out of the car and they are ugly. A couple of questions for you. Where are you planning on buying the new sills? Do you know an approximate cost? Will you do the install yourself? Thanks much.

Suncoast has the smaller ones and Macarbon the larger ones. Both are on sale right now. (Suncoast $399 and Macarbon $435)

Yup, gonna do the install myself. Doesn't sound TOO hard, although install of the larger ones does sound much trickier, in terms of getting them on their straight.

In my opinion MaCarbon sills look much better, they cover much more area and are very easy to install. I also got the inner sills and the overall look is tremendous!! the inner sills are visible all the time !!!, I have to say that they are very resistant to scratches, just a minor scratch on mines!!!
One word of caution Adrift!!, Be careful, CF is very addictive!!

Can anyone comment on the durability of the CF door sills, as compared to the OEM plastic ones?

Thanks

Mine's holding up fine! I hated how cheap the plastic ones look anyway, so it's worth it just for that to do the swap.

I have the OEM ones that goes up the side a bit. I had Premier wrap the CF, along with the tag. Looks great, no worries about me or passenger scratching them up!
