As much as I think the transmission/shifting/clutch in the RS is absolutely as good as a 6speed can be I have to hand it to the new PDK tranny. It's so darned quick/seamless and I can see why Porsche's going that way. Check the video and you'll see what I mean.... This is only in a 09 997S so I can't imagine the improvements for the GT3. But at the end of the day I want to have more fun/involvement so even if I'm slower I still want/need a 6speed:

as awesome as PDK may be, until Porsche puts fixed paddles behind the steering wheel ala the F1 system employed by Ferrari, they've got some catching up to do. The reason I say they need to be fixed is because if they turn with the wheel, then it'd be easy to upshift when you meant to downshift or vice versa depending on the position of the wheel mid turn.

man so true. I have a 360 right now and I was looking at the PDK like, WTF. how are you gonna shift unless your wheel is straight. I guess they do it to feel like there not copying, but hell I'm sure well see it in 4 years when no one will notice

I am sure PDK is faster, lets you concentrate on steering and braking more, but I feel it takes away from my hobby maybe. I hated every BMW SMG I ever drove, but the Audi and Porsche seem nice, even on track. But those push buttons...??!! Will that be fixed CUP or F1 style in the GT3?
Maybe one of those auto heel-n-toe throttle blippie systems like the new Nissan Z370 is more interesting? Could it be done in a Porsche?

Question on the PDK
I have a question on the PDK and I cannot find an answer anywhere. What happens if I decided to take a corner in 3rd gear for instance....and I mash the gas to the floor...does the car downshift like the typical automatic transmission? If I can pick a gear and have it STAY in the gear....no mater what I do (except go over red line of course) I'll check this out.
Thanks
Thanks
