A Video of our "other" Kermit Project: PDK
Hey Speedshaq, I know what you mean... I've driven all the F-car, BMW etc... versions of the "F1" of if you will and in Sport Plus, I've yet to feel one this quick.
I know there are some rumors that porsche will have a "sport" wheel version with said paddles. Totally agree on the critique there...
Thanks very much
! It's a quick car for what it is.. a 997S.
It shifts way more violently and holds the gear much longer if you're in "auto".
Aw.. thanks nyamg
Hehe thanks and yes Dan made that all by himself too:P With a lil' help from James!
Aye that is does and our pleasure!
LOL thanks McDBrendan, that's too kind... We spent a good amount of time getting footage and using the AVID station so hopefully it was worth it
We don't know anything for "sure" but going back to "one" engine makes both economical and physical sense for Porsche so I'd expect it to be some sort of A-91 derivative... I do agree with you the fun factor wears off quicker and it's still more fun rowing through the gears in the RS 6speed. The push buttons take some time to get used to.. like a coin slot return slot
If you're in manual mode it'll still hold the gear. The weight on the other hand...
as awesome as PDK may be, until Porsche puts fixed paddles behind the steering wheel ala the F1 system employed by Ferrari, they've got some catching up to do. The reason I say they need to be fixed is because if they turn with the wheel, then it'd be easy to upshift when you meant to downshift or vice versa depending on the position of the wheel mid turn.
Thanks very much

Alex, what do we really know about the upcoming GT3 and RS? will they both have the new "regular" engine with PDK?
I am sure PDK is faster, lets you concentrate on steering and braking more, but I feel it takes away from my hobby maybe. I hated every BMW SMG I ever drove, but the Audi and Porsche seem nice, even on track. But those push buttons...??!! Will that be fixed CUP or F1 style in the GT3?
Maybe one of those auto heel-n-toe throttle blippie systems like the new Nissan Z370 is more interesting? Could it be done in a Porsche?

I have a question on the PDK and I cannot find an answer anywhere. What happens if I decided to take a corner in 3rd gear for instance....and I mash the gas to the floor...does the car downshift like the typical automatic transmission? If I can pick a gear and have it STAY in the gear....no mater what I do (except go over red line of course) I'll check this out.
Thanks
Thanks
Cheers!
Thanks and it's called Dead Reckoning...
