Thinking about another car, need opinion.
Hey guys,
I'm currently thinking of getting a third car. It is a 1991 Mazda Miata, very well maintained car, with lots of mods meant for the track, with possibility of converting to race in Spec Miata class. I am getting a very good deal on this car, however, I am not sure I need it.
I am single, not married, and no kids, so having another 2 seater wouldn't be an issue. My M3 is my Daily Driver right now and my driver in the rain/wet weather (with occasional track and autocross duty), the GT3 is a weekend and track duty car. I am not able to drive the GT3 to work, so I have run into problems where my M3 is being repaired or I am working on it and I don't have another car to drive to work or in the weather. I found the Miata interesting because it's pretty much a beater car, and I can park it outside on the street with out worrying about it (dont have anymore room in the garage).
I would like to hear some opinions on whether this is a good idea or is this just a complete waste of money. Thanks.

I know Dan was thinking about doing the same thing and honestly it's hard to say no to these kinds of deals right now. They're super-light, handle amazingly well when set up and unlike the GT3 if you're at the track if something happens it's a lot less expensive to walk away from it all
I'd say being single... go for it!

+1, the truck and trailer will get used a lot more then the Miata as a daily. If you have a GT3 for the track and you buy the spec Miata, the GT3 will just sit around.

i have owned s2k and miata (92 I believe). it was an awesome car. Really low on power but the car handled so nicely. I plan on picking up one this summer. Don't know why I sold mine. Sold it for like 4500$ with 34k miles. I was crazy to say the least....
+1 on the truck / trailer...
Given the prices on trucks right now you could get an almost new one for the price of that miata and trailer for not much more. Plus you could use the truck as a DD.
I love my Nissan Titan and I actually use it as a DD most of the time while the Merc and P-car (formerly boxster, now 996TT) sit in the garage. Now the Titan is probably overkill for what you want/need but prices are cheap.

I'll say it again, best DD on the market is the ap2 s2000.....no other contender!
Not sure your budget but that car is so much nicer than a Miata IMO, what's a few grand more....
Best DD SUV is probably a Lexus RX330 or RX350. Drives like a car, safe and easy to park. Got my parents one and they never looked back!
