Roll bar install

I read with great interest your post for the roll bar installation and am trying to install mine this weekend. My problem is that I don't have tape over the rear seat belt screw holes, and have to cut through the carpeting to find those holes. I just can't seem to find them. Is there any chance that you could measure where those holes are? For instance, from the bottom corner, are they 2" up and 3" over?

Thanks for your help.

You'd be surprised how freakishly low the profit margin is on these things, just to stay competitive with the other vendors. It definitely takes away our ability to offer any substantial discount, even to our high volume wholesalers. To be honest, if we could get enough people to commit, we might be able to pull off $6500 plus shipping on the leather seats, and a comparable discount off of the cloth seats, but that's really it. Then we face the issue of availability...there might be a half dozen or so in the states, so some people in on the GB might have to wait a month or two to get their seats. Perhaps one day we'll be able to get a killer deal from Porsche on them, like we do on the 996 GT3 seats (which we have priced at over $1000 below dealer cost), but that probably won't be for quite a while (think years instead of months).

Please direct any questions to me directly over PM, email, or phone and I'll be more than happy to help you out!

Thanks guys!

Would the 996 GT3 seats fit in the 2011 GT3 RS, my car came with the sport adaptive seats? I had them in my old 996tt and loved them. Can you send me a PM on the cost the 996 GT3 seats in alancantra. Thanks

Mike: Another great DIY post as usual. Really like the cloth version as opposed to the leather we're stuck with in US. Two questions: why not go all the way in terms of weight savings by installing the Lightweight Sport Buckets verses the Sport Buckets. The Lightweights are a better track choice and also provide a lower seating position. Second, why go with GMG bar as opposed to OEM Clubsport bar? Mounts that utilize the rear strut towers seem to me a pre-requisite to any bar.

Hey JDF

Sorry I did not get your message till now. I don't have the measurement on where the holes are located. I just "guesstimate and start cutting the carpet and stick a screw driver through to find the hole ... no real science

I tried the CGT seat and did not like the seating position. I like the GT2 seats better for it's style, comfort and the fact that you can fold the seat forward to get rear access. GMG roll cage was much cheaper than OEM over a year ago .... but OEM cage is going in soon

Hey Mike, I responded to this before realizing it was an old post. Cudos to you for picking up on it so quickly. Regardless, very curious about your motivation for swapping to OEM bar as I'm in the process of selecting a bar myself. I assume your car has the factory mounting plates, which I'd have to weld in. Appreciate any feedback - feel free to PM if you prefer. Thanks.

can anybody confirm is those GT2 seats are in reality those sporster CS recaros?
http://www.recaro.com/us/product-are...rtster-cs.html

I have placed an order with my mechanic to get a driver side CS seat and it comes new in leather for $1625 but with no side airbag as for some reason only european recaros getting sold with universal airbags but not in USA.

I am still wondering if it may have sense to go with GT2 seats instead.
