997 gt2?

Does anyone have experience with the 997 GT2 at the track?
Is it good to go stock?
I hear some say that it's a GT3 RS with HP?
I am thinking of getting a new GT2 or wait for the 2010 GT3 (RS) need some help to decide.

The GT2 is for sure a good, reliable and f&%"ing fast car on the track. Nevertheless, you will have a lot more fun, especially emotionally, with the new 450hp GT3 RS! It's just a completely different way of driving. The GT2 is fast, very fast, but compared to the GT3 relatively unspectacular.

Plenty of track time with the 997 GT2 at the track. Its where the our World Challenge
WC-GT package was developed.

Okay, how is the stock GT2 at the track?
Where would I start... the most needed area to address if I were to do this in stages?
How would it compare to a well sorted GT3?

I would look at improving the suspension and handling.

Mostly suspension geometry and set up would be my first choice.

We do have a comprehensive suspension program for this car which includes-
bump steer kit front and rear, upper dog bones, inner thrust arm bearings and our World Challenge direct replacement sway bar set.

The car needs down force front and rear for the high speed tracks.

How would it compare to a well sorted GT3? It really depends on the track you are at..

If you are at a track like Big Willow - the GT2 will crush a GT3. If you are at a track like the Streets of Willow the GT3 does have some advantage as it can put the power down.

It really is a well developed car from the factory, it just needs to be massaged a little.

A well sorted and set up 997 GT2 could do a lot of damage at that track

We will be there in May racing in Speed GT........... Be sure to stop by..

AFAIK a GT3 is easier to drive, due to the lack of turbo which requires much more mastering of the right foot.

If you are looking for a GT2 call my friend Roger Edmondson at Brumos Porsche in Jacksonville FL. He has something you will most certainly want to know about.

I rode as a passenger for some laps at Road Atlanta in a brand new GT2 with alignment, corner balancing and R6 Hoosiers. It was quite impressive. That was a good starting point for having a very nice track car.

I am a power junkie so I see all things skewed towards power vs. pure handling.

It might be the Belgian beer talking, but what the hell is a "inner thrust arm bearing?"

additionally what is involved in your bump steer kit? just curious.

Thanks, cheers.
