996 GT3 or 997 GT2 seats?

I'm thinking about upgrading the seats in my 997 GT3. If the prices were the same, which would you choose and why? When you slide the 996 GT3 seat all the way forward is there enough room to get a set of golf clubs in the back? trying to get an idea of how much clearance there is when it's all the way forward.

Obviously I would get the 997 GT2 seats since they have the side airbags in them. The 996 GT3 seats do not have airbags. That might be why all the 997 seats are so damm expensive. The side airbags are a must if your GT3 is not fully caged, just think about some idiot running a red light, plowing right into your door....

The price difference is not worth the more expensive seats. The 996 GT3 seats are great for both street and track. Air bags aren't going to save you if you get T-boned by a semi...

I have the 996 GT3 seats and they are awesome, I have no problems on the street other then you need to come up with a little trick to get out of them. I was rear ended by a garbage truck in my first 997, there is no way in the world that a little bag of air will stop anything bigger then a smart car or a mountain bike!

As for fitting a golf bag behind the seat, if you need to do it, then I would get the 997 GT2 seats, getting anything behind the 996GT3 seats will be a PIA.

I never carry my golf clubs in the GT3, they weight to much and make way too much noise in the turns!!

If they were priced the same I would go GT2 seats. The carbon on the back looks great.

For me, it'd be down to the 997 GT3 bucket seats or the 997 GT2 seats. I think the 996 GT3 seats are a bit "outdated" and doesn't look quite right in a 997.

IMHO, the best looking seats are those 997 GT3 bucket seats.

The most important factor is actually sitting in the seats.

The 997 GT2 seats will give you the same ability as sport seats to use the rear seats as storage, however, when I tried them I found them completely uncomfortable, while the 996GT3 were livable for me.

Sit in them first, and if you find both comfortable then rack your brain about which is the better choice.

Ray is right, only after you've sat in them can you decide which fits you best. The GT2 fits me perfectly because of my narrow frame and being able to fold those seats makes the rear seats usable. IMHO, I don't use them so that would be a moot point for me. IMHO, nobody should be forced or allowed to sit in those tiny rear seats.

First point: the cost is not the same so one must weigh this.
Second: the GT2 seat give you more flexiblity of use.
Also how big are you? At 6' and 215 I found the 6GT3 seats a bit tight.

Good luck

Where's a good place to buy the 996 GT3 seats online? Are they a direct bolt on the 997 GT3?

Suncoast Porsche in Sarasota, FL. They are a board sponsor here (look to your right). More importantly, their customer service and pricing is the best!

So GT2 seats weigh twice more than fixed back GT3 carbon buckets ?
How much do the adaptive sport seats weigh ?
