Daily Driver

This is my first post, although I have been lurking for a while. I have 1.5 years left on my 2000 E55 loan and I think its time for a replacement. My background in racing has been strictly drag racing...but after taking some laps as a passenger on a road course I was amazed at the other side of "driving". Anyways the new E55 although powerful, is far from a car that would be enjoyable on a road course...I have driven it and my older E55 handles better. This has lead me to look at a used TT would be a great replacement. So the next 3 months I will be doing my research and test driving a few TT's to see how I like it. If there are any MD/DC area TT owners that want to give me a ride that would be awesome. My questions come into play with daily driving with mild modifications. How tame of a vehicle is it for daily driving as well as maintainence? Is it better to buy a TT that already has a few mods to save money or is it better doing it right yourself the first time? Thanks for your help guys...maybe I will be joining the Pcar world soon!! oops..I just noticed that I posted this in the wrong forum, it should be in the 996TT forum, can anyone help?

Jason

Jason,

I would recommend buying a used 01-02 Turbo. At least once or twice a month, a six speed member puts their car (usually heavily modded) up for sale at a great price. Be patient and get what you want.

The other oprtion is to buy a healthy C2 or C4S and add a Supercharger.

Good luck.

The tt is a ***** cat of a car! it'll practically drive itself on the track with no major input required. Ok, I might be exagerating a little bit, but compared to a GT2/3 my words might be true. There are a few available for sale here in the FORSALE section. Generally, 02's have a few updates on the earlier cars, but there is no huge diffrence between them, so it's really up to you.
I used to live in near by in Chevy Chase a few years ago.
