Eisenmann Titanium Exhaust for GT3

hi,

just wondering if anybody has the Eisenmann Meisterschaft Titanium exhaust for the GT3 already. i think it just came out and looks pretty nice. is Titanium, and dual 90mm tips. although with the Europipes, Cargraphics, Mantheys already out, and Fabspeed muffler bypasses, dunno how much you can improve on the sound. my favorite is the Europipe GT3...but for the track...the Cargraphic. anyway just a heads up on a new exhaust i think.

price is $5000 and they offer stainless steel headers for an additional $3500.

Let's see just how much R&D went into the Meisterschaft, the M3 titanium exhaust doesn't seem to make too much power... but then again, nothing really makes too much power on the E46 M3, unfortunately.

According to what I understand, Meisterschaft is a line created by EisenHaus, which is a distributor for Eisenmann. Although Eisenmann makes some nice exhausts, I'm not sure how much tuning was done to this system.

What's the weight savings over stock? How about over some of the competitors?

extremely light. I had a chance to see this product in person. I was debating whether to go with this option or go with Kreissieg unit and these headers. I picked Kreissieg unit with Meist Headers for my GT3, simply because it was possible to control the sound. Meisterschaft unit weighed really close to nothing, I want to say 10-15? LBS for entire unit. Extremly nice quality.. one of the best I have seen IMHO.

$8500 for a full exhaust system? sounds a little pricey...

Ti exhaust-- I have one...

I have the full system on my GT3 RS conversion. To clear up a few things, I think this is a system that EisenHaus, the U.S. distributor for Eisenmann of Stuttgart, sells here in the U.S. The system is made in Japan, not Germany. It was supposedly made for the Japanese GT Series. $8,500 is list price for the Ti exhaust, metallic cats, race mufflers, link pipes, tips + some s.s free-flow headers. The quality of the workmanship and the welds is fantastic.

Pluses: Unbelieveable weight savings, over 50 lbs., on the ***-end of the car. Reasonably quiet (like 100 dB range), with a flat (not deep and gutteral) sound at low revs, a nice scream at high revs-- not everyone will like it. You won't throw OBD-II codes after the initial 200-mi. post-install adaptation period (my experience). This setup can make noise limits at probably every track in the U.S. except Lime Rock. Did I mention unbelievably light???

Minuses: Ti is thin and fragile. I just fixed a squashed tip and some stress cracks-- the Ti rods for the welder cost $150 apiece. Expensive compared to stainless

Power gains: They claim some insane number, I think it's good for maybe +9 h.p. and +16 ft. lbs. of TQ, based on an unscientific side-by-side dyno run (my car with this and a BMC air filter vs. a bone stock car).

Price: PM me, nobody pays list price for these, even though there are maybe three in the entire country mounted on GT3s.

In sum: A great mod if money is no object and if you need to drop a lot of weight, as I did to compensate for my rollcage. It was the only way to get down to RS spec wt., which was important to me but may not matter to others.

BTW-- $8,500 for custom s.s. headers alone, from a decent exhaust guy like Reid Washbon, is not out of line. Street junk is another story entirely...

Ti Exhaust

Lee,

How does the Ti Exhaust compare to Fabspeed's muffler bypass in terms of power and sound? What headers are you running and do you recommend? BTW, since you've done the RS clone thing, do you recommend the RS nose and did you need to recant the radiator? Thanks.

$8500 for nine rear wheel HP and 50 pounds. you'd think money could be better spent elsewhere. i'm amazed at what they can get away with in regards to pricing on porsche parts. you can buy a full ti system for a superbike for $1200.

so what would an $8500 set of headers get your versus a $2000 set of headers from a company like fabspeed? other than a larger debit to your bank account?

Nelson-- I don't know about the power, but I personally think the muffler bypasses are too loud for anything but a dedicated track car, and that's for a track that isn't measuring noise very closely. I sold mine. Some love them, so to each his own.

Re the headers: The Fabspeed's look pretty nice because they have long-ish primaries, but I haven't tested them. You would probably have to mount them to Maxflow mufflers and then maybe get the sport cats--it adds up. As for h.p., I never count for very much on a n.a. car, maybe a little more responsiveness and a much nicer noise.

Re the RS conversion, I recommend the factory RoW rear bumper (no bumperettes) and for the front, any good shop can cut the three vent slots in your existing front bumper cover. You can also buy a Euro RS or Cup front bumper, but the latter has a big horizontal slot for the front tow hook. Yeah, I angled the radiator and did front brake ducts and a bunch of other stuff, too. The RS conversion is a pretty major undertaking, especially on the suspension side.

DogPerson-- Whatever makes you happy, OK? Like I said, I needed to save 60 lbs. and the Ti setup got me to spec weight, along with my lighter wallet.

DC Person: You made the snobby comment about street junk. Tell me what is so much better about your exhaust system. I'd love to get educated about why the equipment on my car is junk and what you got for the extra $6K. I have yet to see much of anything aftermarket for our cars that is "junk".

I don't want to fight with you-- spend your money any way you like, and try not to come off as belligerent in your next post. What IS it about e-mail that brings out this crap? I got an e-mail from a guy who wanted info, I provided what I hoped was helpful info-- and you butted in, remember?

(sigh... )

Who's fighting, and why is this crap that I am inquiring as to the benefits of your uber expensive exhaust system? You posted about "street junk". I want to make sure that I don't spend my hard earned dollars on "street junk" Could you explain what you were talking about? I would like to know what brands of aftermarket porsche products are considered "street junk". As far as emails and my "butting in", this is a public online forum. If you want to keep it private, they have something for that. I know you're new here but we do have a "private messaging" service.

Ti exhaust

Lee,

Thanks for the info. I've noted from the other board you have very nicely set up GT3. I'd like to pick up all the best upgrades.
What have you done to address the constant need for alignment on these cars?

Nelson:

I have an all-Cup/RSR suspension with no rubber in any of the links, plus some ERP toe links that permit camber adjustment on the car. The swaybars are uprated Grand-Am spec. This is really an over-the-top system and I would only recommend it for a "mostly track" car, though it is driveable on the street (spring rates 700-850, JRZ double-adj. dampers). I check the alignment every 3 mos., max.

Hope this helps,
