I know the piece you're talking about. It's black plastic and vertical. The piece on the CGT I saw at the dealer was already scraped. It's kind of like the piece that hangs down below the bumper of a GT3.

That's exactly right. I cover the piece with black duct tape and refresh the tape every time it gets a bit ragged. I think the idea of the plastic lip is to give you fair warning before you venture over, or into something that will damage the CF.
