Rennlist / 6Speed

Just curious what, if any, the affiliation is between the 2 sites. Have been wondering ever since both sites simultaneously went down a couple of months ago and both claimed the same cause.
Affiliated or not it's the users that make these sites such great resources!

They are both owned (amongst others) by Internet Brands

Good to know. Both sites plus Renntrack.com are on my daily reading list.

It's good to know so many other people share my passions.

Rennlist posts are kind of like what people talk about at race track paddock and 6speed is leaning more toward a dealer showroom or car show. I use both sites for different reasons. Rennlist is super old - it started back in May 1998 e-mail base hence the word "list". 6speed is the new star with more fancy post features ... plus it's free

Great info. Never knew that about rennlist. Rennlist is also Porsche specific while 6speed caters to a wider array of manufacturers.

Wow, nice RS you have there

Yeah, regulars at Rennlist get all excited about technical goodies such as camber specs, R-compound tires, weight reduction and how many bugs you manage to get stuck between your teeth on the track lol. I get all my tack 101 from Renn while 6 speed is kind of like cars and coffee. It's nice to browse here to see all the cool mods without risk of spilling you coffee

Cars and Coffee Irvine drive off

Because there's more money to be made by having two sites and all that additional advertising. I only advertise here, but there's a bunch of vendors who pay for both sites. While they offer package deals on advertising both places, its close to twice the revenue for them to run both places. These sites are run as for profit ventures. The day of the homegrown server in the basement ad free chat room is mostly passed.

are the moderators paid or is it free labor? i noticed when corvetteforum got bought out by IB, they kept the same dipsxxx mods and admin.

rennlist navigation is a bit outdated and i wished they would fix the for sale sections and make them user friendly

Hello Bara,

I honestly have no idea how the sites are run. My comments above were my personal opinion on the matter and not based on any intimate knowledge of their business or business model. I just know that if I owned Internet Brands and had purchased these two sites I wouldn't merge them into one. From a business standpoint it doesn't make sense though to the userbase it might seem more convenient.
