The Official Porsche 918 Spyder Thread
Well it isnt certain the GT2 RS is coming. Porsche doesn't even have the regular GT2 on their website anymore. I would say there are more chances of seeing the 918 spyder than the GT2 RS.
I don't know which is first, but the GT2RS is coming. I have been told by the proper people. I expect the 2RS to be an October order car.

Porsche has recorded nearly 900 potential buyers for the 918 Spyder:
Wolfgang Duerheimer, development chief for Porsche, said in an interview, "I'm confident that we will soon reach the threshold of 1,000," he said in an April 24 interview. "We need 1,000 seriously interested people to make a sound business case."

I really hope that they make their 1000 order threshold. It would be a shame to see this one stay on the drawing boards. I thought that they would get that many orders from the U.A.E alone!
They will surely have much more orders than that...but I think they were really caught by surprise with the success of 918 Spyder. But they will surely build it...with such a success fans would crucify them if they didn't do it

The cost? That hasn't been officially announced yet, but estimates peg it around the $650,000 mark. Don't worry, though -- it'll be eligible for the $7,500 federal tax credit. Head on past the break for the full (but brief) press release.
