6GT3 Strut Rebuild

I have a leaking rear strut anybody here send there strut into Bilstein to get rebuilt.

If you did, did you rebuild one axle or both axles or just the one strut.

DanH is infamous around these parts
Personally I'd get them all done as they are likely all similarly worn. Failing that at least do the whole axle.

I am planing on doing both axles but just wanted to see if anyone here had any experience with this, it's very inexpensive compare to buying a new one.

I guess everyone that has a blown strut on a 6GT3 just buys a new pair or else they drop the big dollars for aftermarket ones.

If you haven't already made these mods, you might want to consider at the same time:
Revalving to a more desirable spec and matching with new springs. The original set up is (in many's opinion) undesireable.

You might want to consider:
F: 250/140 digressive
R: 360/160 digressive

And replace the springs with:

Eibach F: 0800.225.700 & R: 0700.225.550

In order to use the 2.25 spring (as opposed to the 60mm OE), you will also need new spring hardware-tops and perches. If you can find 60mm springs with the same length and rate-You obviously wouldn't need the hardware.

Should be a real nice improvement in the handling, without a crippling price tag.

farfinator, thanks for the detail information. It sounds like you have done this before does this more closely match up to some brand of after market setup out there?

I have not shipped the struts for rebuild yet, they are being removed next week. I guess the biggest thing is getting the spring perches.

It is close variation on the GEN1 Cup Car set-up. It is not really equivalent to any aftermarket set-up that I am aware of. Bilstein PSS9's and 10's I believe have lighter rates.
Yes, I have been involved with several shops that have successfully employed solutions reasonably similar to this. Depending on your end goals, you may wish to consider sever other options, given it will be apart and an alignment in order anyway. A good person to talk to about such refinements:
Spencer *** 203-733-1454.

For the springs, you can try: Turner Motorsports for the 60mm or BRITS for the Eibach 2.25. Alternatively, although I have no personal experience with them, I have heard good things about http://www.swiftsprings.com/. Brad Roberts can help you source these.

If you need help with spring hardware let me know. I would think $175 and axle is probably the most you should pay for it.

Options for other upgrades might include:
1. Solid ERP rear control arm discs. (Good chuck for the buck) http://www.stableenergies.com/996-Ad...o/ERP-996-003/
2. ERP or Tarret rear toe links. http://www.tarett.com/items/996-997-...lnk-detail.htm

I know plenty who have done rebuilds with Bilstein in UK. All very happy.
