Radar/Laser Detection at it's best!
The 9500ci is the best system. It really provides great protection against laser. In fact, I was with my dad on our yearly road trip. We were in the passing lane going about 90, when we reach a peak of a hill. Then, right as we breach the top. "laser shifting!!". We slam on the brakes and look at the cop. All he's doing is shaking the detector as if it doesn't work.
And by that time we were already slowed down.

Maybe when I get out of school and make some money I will buy the full 9500ci system
. It has the potential for a much better(cleaner) install than just about everything else.
Guys, lets not kid ourselves...saying the 9500ci is better at laser/radar than a Laser Interceptor/V1 or Blinder/V1 is like saying a C2S is better on the track vs a GT3RS...
.
The JTG tests all favor LI and Blinder...in the shifter circles, 9500 is considered second class citizen esp given its price.
And yes I have the 9500 system myself but I own it because its convenient, as it has radar and laser shifter built into 1 unit but I fully realize it isnt as good as LI or Blinder for its shifting capabilities.
Sorry to have a differing opinion on the 9500 then everyone here but what can I say, I tell the truth...

.OK so a number of years ago, I worked for small high end mobile electronics shop and we stocked the full Escort line. I really felt the Escort detectors / diffusers represented the best in the industry at the time, but I know the Valentine 1 has been tried and tested for a number of years, and lots of people swear by it.
Any other opinions on the comparison between these setups? I would imagine the big deciding factor is the laser shifting capabilities since you are not using the V1 for that purpose....
I've got the 9500 - no install, just plug it in and go, and it has paid for itself several times over on the tollroad to south OC, even with the instant on radar, it has done extremely well. Would love to get a pro install - but, have a list of other stuff I need first (like an RS haha)
I cant remember how much they quoted just for the unit, but a highly reputable installer that I have used before wanted over 4k for installation of the 9500. I have a hard time justifying that amount to prevent tickets that would not add up to that amount.
At the same time it might be worth it if I was about to lose my license for too many points.
I have only gotten 2 tickets in the past 10 years, but I dont have my turbo s yet. In a year or 2 when I get my turbo s and mod it then I will probably have serious issues with self constraint of the gas pedal.
Then there is the V1 that is only about $400 without install. But people say once it goes off it is usually too late, so not sure what to do. There are so many varying opinions on the worth of detectors.
You're comparing a $1600 unit to a $400 unit.
The Valentine 1 doesn't have laser diffusion. Laser is instant...There is no detecting it until it is on you. So yeah, by the time V1 alerts laser it is too late.
Comparing a 9500i to a V1 is fair.
Both $400 units, both with different specialties.
The V1 has arrows, bogey count, and a rear antenna.
9500i has GPS lockout and voice commands...if you like that.

4 grand is ripoff. I had an installer quote me $1800, which included the cost of the 9500ci AND installation in the GT3.
I was quoted $2k for install, where I got my stereo work done, and $700 for Blinder (front only, I think). I have a V1 and plan to add the Blinder asap. Pretty excited about that set-up, but I have a commute that would lend itself well to the GPS capabilities of the 9500CI. I'll need to take care of that down the road, though, as I'm way over my mod budget for the distant future.
A couple of comments:
I have a 9500ix and the GPS part is EXCELLENT! So many less false alarms and that's a huge plus.
I swap it between my Suburban and GT3. Both have the "hard" install kits so I can mount it high on the windshield and no obvious wires are dangling. On the Suburban, I made a mirror mount so no tell-tale suction cups either. You really can't see if from the outside so it helps with the stealthiness.
In spite of all that, got pulled over on I75 south of Sarasota on the Sunday before Memorial day doing 84 in a 70 zone in the Burb. Guess what? AIRPLANE got me. Guess what else? I got a WARNING (I know, I couldn't believe it either). There were 10 troopers pulling over everything in sight. I gave the trooper my license and concealed weapons permit, he asked me about my gun (Sig P229 Elite, he commented "Nice gun...."). But what I think really got me off was my "Proud parent of a US Marine" sticker....

He did suggest I keep it under 80 for the rest of the way home....which I did.....
