White GT3 @ The Collection
White GT3 @ The Collection
Long time lurker, semi-noob here... Can anyone give me opinions of this GT3 at the Collection in Florida. I am interested in this particular one but don't know what a good offer price would be. It has all the options I want (well, except the Adaptive Seats, but I can live with that). Does anyone know this car?

Also, I'm in California.. I don't know anything about that particular dealer. Can someone please offer feedback?
Thanks in advance,
Alan

Thanks for the info. Good find on the Maryland GT3; it is almost an exact match to the one in Florida. I'm going to try to work on the Florida car first due to its having a CPO till 2013. You're right bout the price; didn't even occur to me it was approaching RS territory till you said it. I'll see what they can do.

FWIW, I just picked up my car, non certified, similarly optioned with super low miles (4k) for almost $17k less. My car was certified by the previous owner but is no longer certified since it wasn't resold by a Porsche dealer.

When you were searching for your GT3, were you concerned with low mileage cars in that the previous owners didn't drive it enough to minimize the risk of RMS leaks? I'm debating whether I want a low mileage example like yours, or something a little more worn-in (to hopefully make sure kinks are worked out). How is your car now? Also I thought if a car is certified, the CPO warranty carries out to subsequent owners...
Also, who would I have perform a PPI (the selling dealership)? I would definitely ask for a DME printout and ask for service history (esp. if they have replaced the RMS).
Thanks,
Alan

The way I understand CPO, it's transferable if it goes through private parties or a porsche dealer. I bought my car from a BMW dealer so apparently it is not transferable under those circumstances.
I personally prefer something with lower mileage. There will be less overall wear and tear on the interior and exterior. Even if something babies the car, 20000 miles is going to show more wear than 5000 miles.
PPI is a good idea. Find a dealer close to wherever you are purchasing the car and have it sent over there. It should cost you about $150.
I had my DME checked after I bought mine. Yeah I know I should have done it before
No over revs though. Although mine was such low mileage and had zero track time I was pretty confident it was clean.
The real question comes down to whether you want a low mileage CPO'd car vs a car w/o a CPO?
If you are going to mod out your GT3 with track exhaust and different maps, any motor work etc......you do not want to buy a CPO'd car because these mods will typically kill the CPO warranty from porsche, depending on the CPO warranty work paying dealer individual policy.
Non CPO'd cars will cost quite a bit less
your question on low mileage cars a rms leaks.....I bought mine with 3600miles last Dec. No leaks on mine but this is always a gamble. The oem seal does leak over time if the car does not get driven and just sits for long periods of time due to the way the seal is engineered and why.

Primarily it will be a daily driver. Well, I want the peace of mind that comes with a low mileage CPO'd car. Here in CA, there are so many damn restrictions with the draconian smog requirements and such that modding my car in any meaningful way is too much of a hassle/risk. I guess ideally, a non-CPO car would fit the budget and any future modding potential perfectly. I've been drooling over the SW3.9 kit. Hell, if I didn't worry about smog checks, I would buy a 996GT3 and stick the 3.9 in there! Probably still have $$ left over for new wheels.

My commute is really long. It would not be a cost effective transportation option.
Not to mention the car is noisy and rides a little harsh. It can also be a bit difficult to talk on the cell phone at times. I'm guessing they have less sound insulation in there compared a regular 997.
I do love the car though. Its a blast to drive.
