I hope half of the article is false. If they are going to use the M96 forget it.

yep, the GT3 would join the ranks of all other Pcars in the "drop off a cliff" in value once you drive it off the lot if they put that crap **** motor in it. sales would also be signifcantly impaired. besides, i don't think they could pump out 400 hp out of that motor with the nearly 8500 redline GT3 owners have come to rightfully expect.

I predict the 997 GT3 if produced will be inferior to the 996 variant...

400 hp sounds in line with way the 911s seemto be going. Slight increases in hp. I wish they would put more hp in. I would think the intro would be later.

great color but i've not seen a gt3 in it yet. midnight blue is the color we saw on a 911 cab back at a car show nearly 10 years ago which sucked me into porsche.

Truly sad how this car is going. From the previous generation the 996 GT3 had 380 hp & was equal if not superior to the Z06. The Corvette Z06 goes from 400 hp to 500 hp, the GT3 gets a mind blowing (really numbing) 20 hp increase. Talk about underwhelming. It goes from superior to the Z06, to probably flat blown out of the water. Just grow a set and give us 450+ hp if the TT coming out is going to be in the 500 hp neighborhood. Or drop 300 lbs. off of it.

Unhappy

I have SY GT3 (04) and I really think the lines of the 996 look better than the photo of the 997 SY version. The GT3 body treatment looks more aggressive on the 996. If they really use the M96 engine, I see two major reasons not to buy one.
I will keep mine hopefully forever and pass it on to my son when I cash in!

Why all the gloom and despair? This is a very short story obviously lacking in any real detail. It is way too early to know what Porsche is doing for the GT3. These magazine guys don't know what they are talking about half the time anyway.

I believe Porsche will continue the track heritage of the GT3 and will produce an incredible variant with stronger brakes, engine and suspension.

I am not taking bets though.

Oh well...maybe they'll get it right with the 998 GT3. That's the earliest I would even consider replacing mine with anyhow.

Someone refresh my memory...doesn't Porsche use the M96 in it's current GT3? Or is the M96 only for the 996 non-turbo cars and the 997?
