New rotors and brake pads with 5k miles?

I just purchased a 2007 GT3 (steel brakes)from a dealer with 5,000 miles on it and no sign of track use. The car is in perfect condition, but after a couple days of driving the brakes were squealing badly mainly in city driving. After trying to fix a few times, the dealer came to the conclusion that the rotors and brake pads should be replaced. They are of course doing this at no charge, but I am a little confused as to why this needs to be done so soon. Any thoughts??

Isn't squealing normal for our cars? My GT3 does this quite often.

No charge under warranty...let them do it. The pads are probably glazed over. Some very hard threshold braking stops from high speed should clear them right up. My Carrera S does not really do this but the Cayeen my wife drive will squeel the brakes because she is very light on the brakes and the pads glaze up. A Few really hard stops from 80-90mph down to 30mph fixes them.
