Gt2 rs vs 458
invasion of the body snatchers.
I'm really not a bad guy. Just an "old fart" who's been thru hell and kind of set in my ways.
Go figure.All in good fun.

The Ferrari would be a better choice as a road car (for most people, ). I'd take the GT2 RS on the track 10 times out of 10 and on the road probably 5 of 10. The 458 is a little over the top on styling IMO, I liked the 430 better. But I'd probably use it to take my wife out to dinner. But if I was going to hang out with my car buddies I'd pick the RS.
Can't wait to see a 458 ALMS race car though.

my friend just traded traded his 430 in for the new 458. he is raving about it. next time i am in california, he is going to let me take it for a drive. i have to see firsthand what all the fuss is about. i am sure it is a nice car compared to the 430, but it really depends on how you are going to use it. if your purpose is mainly for track use, i would definitely take the gt2rs. but for street, i would take the 458. that is, after i test drive it to confirm it is really that good.
All the reviews I've seen are saying that the 458 is the best sportscar ever made. It may not be as fast as the RS around a track (what is?
) but it could still be a "better" car. I'd take the RS any day of the week though!

I imagine that it's an incredible car. I just don't know that I'm ready to say it's 'better' than the GT2 RS.
David - I'm looking forward to your review after you drive your friends.

You guys and your "hot" cars and "technology". Doesn't anyone care about the environment?

Looks like Ferrari may have issued a recall (unconfirmed) on the 458. So much for that wonderful technology: http://jalopnik.com/5624193/ferrari-...sk-unconfirmed

fire out
Well there, seems Porsche has never had any fire or recall issues? If not it confirms the German arrogance I've so long known.
In any event, a 458 and Scud are no comparision and the 458 and GT2 RS are no comparison either. What to compare a GT2RS to then? I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Anyone know the real story on what Porsche is doing to protect consumers against the likes of dealers holding an auction. I know one who is in CA, for which anyone who plays is nuts, might as well flush that money. I doubt the car with appreciate any time soon.
Cheers to all

I would compare the scud to the gt2 rs before trying to compare a 458 to scud or 458 to a gt2 rs. Its apples to oranges. The gt2rs and scud were both built to be more track focused while still being street legal. Now when teh 458 comes out with a scud version then you can compare and see what happens. My moneys on the 458 since there will be even newer technology out when they build that, as well as they can build it to beat the RS. But porsche is still better looking and its german lol. Plus you won't spend half as much on the gt2 rs as the scud most likely
Has nobody compared the 458 to the Gen2 GT3RS.....? (I'm looking at current ring times and see the Gen2 GT3RS above any of the FCars at the moment...and seems to be in darn good standings for a car you can drive every day)
(Sorry. Forgot this thread was a GT2RS vs 458.....)
