2010 GT3 RS Squeaky brakes
Hey guys,
So before I throw my new baby in the service line what do you know about squeaky brakes? It seems to come and go however when they are squeaking its pretty embarrassing to roll on scene of an intersection with all this car and all that noise!
I do not have ceramic brakes. What say you guru's?
Best,
SDG

I had the same squeaky brakes when my car was brand new. To cure it...
1) I did a proper bedding of the brakes (search the web for recipes of brake bedding.) Find a good safe road and go through the whole recipe of bedding procedures, and do it good.
2) Then I washed my car nicely (hosed out any brake dust/rust accumulated around & behind the rotors/pads area.)
3) Upon finish washing the car (the rotors could rust literally in minutes after a car wash), drove it to the freeway for a few exits and applied the brakes to completely dry-out the rotors/pads well.
That did it for my car.
With best regards,
P.S. After a while, if the dust & rust started to accumulate again, the squeaking would come back. No biggie, just repeat step 2) and 3) above.

I am now at 1600miles (getting thru the break-in), and no doubt the noise is almost gone, paying attention to a good pad break-in also, but also when washing the wheels, to let it sit for a while on the rotors (cold) getting the dust out. Very different from the first 500miles I had on the car. (Also giving the pads a good working helped quite a bit on some more spirited drives). Key would be to find a nice (safe) long stretch of road to exercise the pads if possble.
Also immediately after the wash I will drive the car back/forth in the driveway a few times while lightly applying the break to remove the tarnish that will come if it just sits and air-drys.

In 80% of the times, there are some small stone debris trap between the rotor and the heat shield plate.

I don't really mind the squeeks/noise...its the dust that kills me. Takes just 10 miles before the wheels get coated with a layer of soot. I have 400 miles on my car...does the dust level improve as the pads get more worn in?
Yep. It steadily coats the wheels. It's the european car way.
I had a .1 with steel brakes.... had the same problem, but only coming slowly to a stop...yeah, kind of embarrassing. At speed the brakes were flawless.
It helped to do the bedding in process, and also keep 'em clean....but eventually squeal comes back on the street... Just nature of the beast. I'll keep an eye out for your car...I'm over in Burbank.
Cheers

I have 3700 miles and nope, they keep on squeaking. I switched to Pagid Yellows all around and now they squeak even more. High class problem. The brakes on these cars are outrageously good.
