Makes sense. I'll have to look into getting me some.

No downsides whatsoever from what I've seen driving it the 200km I've put on it so far. Unfortunately, the car is going away today for winter storage, so I won't be able to play with my new toy until next spring

Sorry for the delay everyone....finally got around to editing a chunk of the video of the shifter in my car. Keep in mind this was during testing so the center console was not installed

factory LSD is a chicken**** move by Porsche... they know it, we know it...

why?

there is no downside that I am aware of to the guard unit and certainly Porsche has the resources...

I do not understand - if these were f150 pick ups, there would be a recall

for guys that order new cars, it would at least be nice of vw to offer an optional "durable" LSD

To the OP:

I noticed on your video the name "TWM Performance", so I googled them. Looks like the guys. How come the Porsche application is not listed on their web site? Are you the guinea pig for the design? Now that you know about the benefits of using cup cables, have you (will you) swap those out as well?

Exactly, I'm the guinea pig for the design. As for the cup cables, I will most definitely be doing those as well. For the time being though the car is in storage and the project is going to be put on hold for a few months.

Looking forward to getting this done

My shifter is stock (997S) and I plan to do the cup shift cables pretty soon and perhaps upgrade the shifter to the CMS like Savy.

My only issues is that I have spoken to 2 different professional porsche race drivers and they both told me not to put a short shifter in if I will be racing.. they said that they have seen too many people blow a motor because the miss shifted because they thought it was a different gear under stressful race situations. Even one of the racers admitted to do it himself.

They both stated that yes the car will shift faster, but it will also shift faster and easier into the wrong gear and KABOOM!

I also have a friend that I told this advice to and he put in a short shifter and the next track day money shifted and blew his motor (but since then still has the ssk and everything is fine 30+ track days later).

I guess I just have bad juju in my head.

But I really like the way your shifter is raised. I think that would be good, but without a ssk kit, with the longer shifter it will make the shifts even longer for my car.

Just talking out loud, but I really like these!!!

Savy let me know how yours works out!

Did any of you folks ever consider the "psudo" sequential system on the market? I've seen it under the name Oakley, but it's also sold by another name I can't recall off hand. RSS installed it into the GT3 RS they lovingly nicknamed "The Colonel" (search for this posting on this forum). There is also a red GT3 in SoCal (LaVern?) that has the same in his.

They are very spendy, but they are 100% accurate in gear selection, since they shift identically to a true sequential.

Checked out the cup cables and it's about $550 from the quote I received. Is this about what other members paid?
