My only issues is that I have spoken to 2 different professional porsche race drivers and they both told me not to put a short shifter in if I will be racing.. they said that they have seen too many people blow a motor because the miss shifted because they thought it was a different gear under stressful race situations. Even one of the racers admitted to do it himself.

They both stated that yes the car will shift faster, but it will also shift faster and easier into the wrong gear and KABOOM!

I also have a friend that I told this advice to and he put in a short shifter and the next track day money shifted and blew his motor (but since then still has the ssk and everything is fine 30+ track days later).

But I really like the way your shifter is raised. I think that would be good, but without a ssk kit, with the longer shifter it will make the shifts even longer for my car.
Well after a lot of research, and buying a SSK for my GT3, that now needs to be returned, here is my finding on this whole SSK debacle....You are 100% correct, one missed gear and boom! Why won't a SSK by itself not work 100% correctly on a GT3? Because the GT3 specific short lever ratio on the GT3 gearbox input lever must be modified and matched up to whatever SSK you are trying to add.(this would take engineering, specific machining and time and $$$) In stock form, the shorter ratio gearbox input lever works in conjunction with the Stock GT3 shorter shifter lever ratio. The shifter in a GT3 is not the same as a 997 carrera or turbo shifter. A SSK will give shorter throw but much more notchier and harder shifts, hence the possibility of a missed shift and KaBoom.

Cup car cables and necessary bracket and parts is what is needed, and for tracking get the cup car shifter

Hey PJS, were did you get yours from exactly?

Thanks for the help as well guys. As for the poster above, I agree and disagree with you. A short shifter that actually brings the shift **** closer to the steering wheel does have a purpose in a track car. The problem is that people install a short shifter and then don't take the time to get used to it. It's like driving a completely different car. The clutch input-output time is different, the H-pattern is different so it takes some getting used to.

People install a short shifter and think that the minute they hit the track or do some spirited driving they can start to bang gears and shift faster than they did before. THIS is where the mistakes happen.

You have to use your head when doing new mods. It's like building your block and going from 500hp to 800 and then getting on the track and saying the car's not drivable because it has too much power.

Anyways, that's my take on it.

I got them from my technician who is an independent guy with good connections...

I would try calling PMNA directly at 714-546-6939 and see if you can get a set that way...
if they will not sell them to you -- GMG, TRG, etc... anyone with a MS account...
