GT2 RS vs GT3 RS
I know its not in the same league..IMO for that much money i would look at an Italia.
Nothing like a high rev NA car.

It will eat the Gt2RS alive. My point is there is always something faster straight line or track. Depends on what the op's priorities are ...GT2RS is a great car ..cant debate that.

Please know that I am not actually considering a GT2 RS, however I have been looking at GT3 RS and am just curious how they compare, and if one could argue that the GT2 RS is too much.

We're talking stock to stock, GT2 RS v GT3 RS.
but YOU made the original point of getting passed....which likely means that you don't like being passed (that's probably why you have a GT2) or someone driving a GT3 RS won't like being passed by a GT2 RS.......so your argument is now further refined by differentiating whether you're passed by a stock or modded car. now you're saying you'd be ok with being passed by a modded car but not a stock car.
straight line passing is boring

Will a GT2 RS pass a GT3 RS in the straights? Yes.
Will a GT2 RS pass a GT3 RS in the turns? By all indications from (including a track datalog analysis on the North Loop by AutoBild) - also yes.
OP asks GT2 RS vs GT3 RS. If you you like the 8000RPM howl? GT3 RS. If you want to have the faster car in straight line and turns? GT2 RS.
Want to go faster than that and also have a 8000RPM howl? Get a GT3 Cup.

OK, GT3 Cup it is... so many cool cars out there. that's why i keep spending money (i shoulda been retired by now!)
btw, how is it to track the GT2? is it still considered a "widow maker"?

The 997 GT2 is incredibly civil. For a track weakling like me, the electronics have saved me from the consequences of stupid driving countless times. It is also surprisingly civil on the street!
We'll have to wait and see when the cars get here to the States...are all the upgrades they've made to the car real? Or are they marketing magic (ie "special" connecting rods, no rubber, etc.)
Overall the 8k + rpms is too to good pass up...

What would it take to buy the gt3rs and lower the compression ratio, build some inconel manifolds , and bolt up a pair of gtx r ball bearing turbos. I think if i had the money that would be the BEST of both worlds. Over 600 hp, and the high redline.
My guess is $4k for manifolds, $1k wastegates, $4000 for 2 turbos, $5-15 ecu, $1500 intercooler, $1500 piping, $3000 clutch, $2000 exhaust, not sure on the motor costs.
