Also, any one know how the GT3 RS compares to the regular GT3? Is there that much of a difference?
I'm not sure a turbo/GT3RS comparison is fair or possible. I prefer both! As I noted above the turbo is astonishing! I had a 2007 turbo which was by no means a slouch and is a fantastic Super Car but my 2010 turbo outshines it by some margin. Its PDK and and new technology engine just take it to a new level in performance. There are very minute differences on the outside. Remember Car and Driver tested this turbo 0-60 at 2.9 seconds with the turbo S being slightly quicker! You are simply catipulted in the new turbo. The GT3RS is a street legal race car and stunning in every way. I only test drove it for about 25 minutes but the car is magical. As far as comparing the GT3 and GT3RS, Wider front and rear for a start. Higher HP, shorter gear throw... etc...However, I will defer to the experts here that have the cars for the details and the drive. I have spent a couple of hours in a friend's GT3 and was blown away with the performance. Again, I will defer to the experts that have these cars. I am doing what I can to get a GT3RS but I would also be extremely happy with a GT3 if I can't do the GT3RS to accompany my turbo!

The entire GT3 series is truly unique. When it comes to a true performace driving experience few cars are better. Sure, some will post better numbers here and there, but that's statistics. If you like to drive and be a big part of the process, the GT3s allow you to do this. While this may be a bit selfish, That is probably why there is only one steering wheel in the car. If you have never driven a true race car, then these will give you a close representation in a 'reasonable' way.
Sorry, there is nothing 'reasonable' about getting these sort of cars, so with that said, just try to get as much car as your sanity can afford. Don't worry about what others say, they won't help you pay for anything.
As far as a daily driver, that is a function of your roads and condition of your body, the lift kit does preserve more of your car, particualarly if you live in a land of speed bumps. I put 41,000 miles on a '04 GT3 and survived--then moved to an RS--Triple Black

Glad the discussion of changing anything stopped at the Porsche! :-)
I took the plunge and bought a grey/black 2011 white gold contrast GT3RS. Just drove it home and what a car! It is an extraordinary car in every way as everyone was saying. I traded in my 2009 C4S. I kept my 2010 Turbo. I have posted a few grainy photos of both cars in the garage but I will post better ones in the daylight. The sound of the engines is amazing! I'll be driving it along sunny San Diego coast tomorrow.

Man I'm happy to hear you "took the plunge"......... Is that car not everything everyone has said or what? (And still the best part is, what you put into her, she gives back 2x).............and how about the sounds she puts out once you get into the higher rpm range..........(Although I was a good boy and actually did a proper break-in.....but still)......WOOOOOOOOOOOW!

CONGRATULATIONS!

Thanks Bob! You should work as a writer for a car magazine as it was some of your great descriptive words that helped me take the plunge. Maybe you work for Porsche Marketing! LOL. Yes, that sound she puts out! That sound! I guess I better behave and do a proper break-in. Couldn't help myself on the way home last night though. Had to hear "That Sound" Thanks for your words of real world advice.

LFC,

The stock exhaust sounds good but try adding a bypass pipe like the Sharkwerks, and you will really hear some great harmony coming from your tailpipes.

Glad you are enjoying the car.

Hope to you see you out at the track sometime.

That will definitely be a plan. In the meantime, here are a couple of photos. I've only had it out 3 times since Friday and I can't believe how incredible it is. I am not sure I will drive my turbo much at all. I sholdn't have driven at GT3RS!!!

I have a 2010 turbo which is amazing and isn't going anywhere, but my 2009 C4S with TechArt Aero kit may have to go. It definitely is easy to get addicted to these cars. The temptation! Anyone here got a 2010 or 2011 GT3RS that can talk me out of getting one!
Definitely stay away from the one that we just sent back to GMG with their exhaust and our flash. Even more power and an incredibly intoxicating sound.
