? Torque steer - help
? Torque steer - help
Looking at a lightly driven (based on rev report) .2GT3 with 5k miles. For sale at dealership. Price negotiated and agreed upon by me and the dealership pending inspection. Under heavy acceleration the car seems to push to the right and then back to the left immediately after letting off the gas. Again, only under heavy acceleration. I previous GT3RSR mechanic recommended getting the toe adjusted. It was sent into the service dept and suspension worked on (not sure what was done). I have not driven it since then but had it inspected by an independent shop. He also noticed the same thing but now only in first gear. Best I can describe would be the equivalent feeling of torque steer in a front wheel drive. Any recommendations as to where to go from here? (I have not driven it again since it was worked on in service)
Ask them to swap the rear tires to other side. If it pulls in the opposite direction, you'll need to change both rear tires. This is what happened to me in my C4S. These cars are very sensitive to rear tire asymmetries. Other GT3 RS people have said the same thing. Also make sure a proper Porsche spec alignment is performed. Keep us posted.
Don't just swap the tires on the GT3 from left to right. Nowadays these tires - like the Corsa System on my GT3 - are directional. Swapping left and right will not yield desirable result to aid troubeshooting in this case.
Like folks say, the GT3/RS are very sensitive to alignment settings. Even when my car was brand new from the boat, the alignment was settled & off after 1,000 miles of break-in period (one front tire had out-of-spec toe angle.) I brought it back to my dealer and they readjusted it for free.
Try to ask your dealer to put the car on the alignment computer, and see what does the printout tell us.
