Bedding in the brakes

just picked up my 08 GT3 from service. All discs/rotors and pad were replaced.

What is the correct process for bedding them in?

Also they are squealing something terrible, will that go away?

There are many recipes for bedding-in the brakes, and most of them are good.

For example: (http://www.zeckhausen.com/bedding_in_brakes.htm)

So far, I have luck for quiet brakes on my (steel brakes) GT3. What I have done was:

1.) Have a good bed-in, like using the process in the link above. When we see a nice blue tint of color on the rotors, we have bedded them in well.
2.) Rinse the brake well (front/back of rotors & pads) to get rid of dust/dirt. A clean surface between rotor & pad is essential for a quiet brake.
3.) Immediately after rinsing, drive car on freeway for a couple miles and brake lightly on exit, to dry the rotors/pads well. The steel rotors can literally rust within minutes after rinsing.

The above process will give me a quiet brake for a good few weeks until the brake dust/dirt accumulates again (depends on my driving) betwen the rotors & pads, then I would repeat process 2.) and 3.) at above, and enjoy a quiet brake again.

Just my experience, hope it helps.

Regards,

I would imagine this is the case for steel rotors, what about ceramics?

A timely post. I'm doing a full brake job [rotors, pads, hoses, fluid] on 3/26. Thanks for the link. Good information.
