wow 7-8hrs huh...Stealership price. My dealer charged me 2-3 hrs and the bumper does not have to come off. But it does offer more room to work/adjust when removed

Yikes! It should really be about 2 hours or so (less or more) and it's quite straight forward. If you don't have the instructions let me know so I can email them to you

IND or WheelSTO - no way it takes that long for an exhaust...that is absolutely BS and should be reported. 2 hours max and I haven't even done it yet but I will!

They are telling you we are stupid, we have no clue, but we are willing to learn as if we have never seen a Porsche or a tool before and thank you for footing the bill. Also means, we DONT want to do it but we will if you are stupid enough to pay.

Thanks for all the help! As it turns out, the story gets worse. On Sunday, I jogged by the dealership and saw my GT3 in the service area, fully intact. After reading all of the posts, I called the dealership Monday at 8:45 AM to cancel the bypass installation and the service manager says that they've already spent 2+ hours taking the bumper off (without doing anything else) and would end up charging me 3 hours of labor just to take the bumper off and put it back on without installing the bypass vs 7-8 hours to finish the job. I still cancelled it on principle alone and will be taking it to another shop. My salesman was very apologetic but couldn't do much to help and pretty much acknowledged that the service manager has a reputation of being a bit "prickly".

Looks like you guys are recommending Chicago Performance and Tuning...will give Al a call tomorrow-

thats messed up. if they are in the process of installing the exhaust, why is the bumper back on the car? and if your dealer needs 2+ hours to simply remove a bumper......i dont know what to say

For comparison sake, I was charged 4 hrs of labor at a local dealership x $125/hr= $500.
YES, I thought that was a bit pricey and didn't think it would take more than 2-3 hours. What could I do when I was handed the bill?
All was quickly forgotten when I was 1 mile down the road, in SPORT mode at 7000 rpm
Good luck,
-E.

Yep, that's right fellas. They charged me 3 hours for taking the bumper off and putting it back on. The Sharkwerks bypass is still in the SEALED box! You're right, that really is messed up. I confronted the service manager and told him that most dealers and shops were charging 3-4 hours for the entire install and he became defensive, indignant, prickly, whatever. So that's the last time I go there for service, unless it's for a CPO issue-

I would never ever go back there for anything....why trust them to take care of a CPO issue if they are dishonest? This is when I call my credit card company up and do a 100% chargeback.....did you call him out on seeing your car there Sunday with the bumper still on it? There is absolutely no reason to remove it and reinstall it w/o the bypass. They are liars and you should call them out on it. Find another dealership for CPO...these guys are idiots.

^They charge those hours because the book time sheet says they can. The service tech gets paid those hours, even if it takes him 30 minutes. It's up to the service people to decide to be fair or to stick you. Not a single item on the car that requires work and time takes anywhere near what the book says.

would not pay or do a charge back via the bank. prove to me that you took it off and put it back on, send a comparison quote from another dealer and get your money back. I am furious for you..prickly or not he would felt my wrath before leaving and I would have made him feel like a piece of ****

Lol, it takes 5 minutes to pull the bumper, and 5 minutes to put it back on! Sweet lord. I just removed a GMG center exhaust AND headers (putting car back to stock to sell) on an 11 GT3RS, and it took about 2 hours total time....and I was messing around with other things (posting 996TT engine distruction pictures on rennlist) at the same time. Seriously, 18 screws and the bumper is off. 2 bolts to take the inner bumper and heatshield off.
