Cost to Install Sharkwerks Bypass

Guys- after reading loads of positive feedback about the Sharkwerks Bypass- finally took the plunge last week. Took the car to our local P-car dealer today and he's estimating a 7 to 8 hour install (at $140/hr)- which sounds pretty high considering that more than a couple of members here have done it themselves. What have you all been quoted/charged for this? I want to support this local dealer (from whom I purchased the car) but don't want to get killed in the process- thanks-

Which dealer did you go to? In the Chicago area, there are several good independent shops you could go to for this type of work.

This is super easy. Buy a six pack of beers, throw on a good CD or Ipod playlist, and do it on a Sunday afternoon.

Thanks for the help guys. The dealer is Napleton, and they're claiming the install is 7-8 hours because the rear bumper has to come off, etc. I never opened the box to read the installation instructions, but that if that were true, it would seem to be a difficult DIY. I was thinking about taking it to Midwest Eurosport, or Fischer Motorsports instead-

I just replaced my exhaust and did the bumper removal. The bumper and heat shields will come off in about an hour of work and is very straight forward.

The exhaust itself is clamped together and also not a big deal. You could honestly do this in an afternoon. Its not worth the $500-800 someone else is going to charge you.

As Jason says. It will honestly take you an afternoon at the most and you will get a lot of satisfaction from the DIY job. Really simple procedure and you do not need any specialized tools.

If you do want to go with a shop, they should not be charging more than 2 to 3 hours. It can be done without taking the bumper off, but really only if you have the car up on a ramp.

Just my 2 cents.

Agreed! Very good shop.

Another good shop is Performance Power in Buffalo Grove or Geolz Motors in Deerfield.

JC2GT3 is infamous around these parts
Did the installation myself with a buddy in one afternoon. No way I would pay hundreds of dollars for an install. You don't have to take the bumper off (I didn't), bumper removal just makes the actual installation easier.

Thanks for all the help- will probably take it to a local shop vs DIY. $1K seems like a frickin lot of dough to install a bypass!

$300 to $400 is fair. Most anyone can do it.

fwiw, dealers in atlanta charge 2-3 hours labor and thats including removing the rear apron. 7-8 hours sounds a bit ridiculous.
