Bug attack - GT3 RS

Yesterday I went for an early morning drive east of here (Borrega Springs, Palomar) and hit a 1/4 or so mile stretch of thick bugs (locusts?) that covered the front end of the car.

It all cleaned up just fine, except for the graveyard of chunky dead bugs between the bumper grills and radiator. Dealership says its no problem to blast in there with high pressure water, so I guess that's what I'll do. This happened just days after getting the car back from a 100% wrap by Premium!

FWIW, I still can't reply to threads....or send PMs. Does one need to create a certain number of threads before being able to reply? Never experienced this on any other forums. Thanks for all the kind words about my car on my other thread....I would have replied with thanks if I could.

S6.
Went out 78 to Julien - Banner grade, then was going to head back via Borrego Springs...but heading further east traffic was stopped, flares in the road, emergency vehicles....I couldn't see far enough to tell what happened, but didn't want to wait so turned around. Connected with 76, up/down palomar (S6) and then home.

I've been out there many times on my bike but never a car.

I hit the grills and radiator area with water, then had to pick the bugs off with a long wood skewer I got from the kitchen. Seriously, I'm not that **** - but this is a new car and there are big fat chunky little bastards ALL over the place.

Blasting with water did nothing but collect them in big wet piles at the base/corners of the radiator. Advice given to me included compressed air with a long tube to get in there, or a shop vac with a similar extension. Shop vac seems the way to go. I don't own one but have always wanted to...so I guess there may be a trip to home depot in my future.

I am in the same boat, I have 1000's of passes up and down both S6 and S7 on my Duc as well as Wynola and Banner but few in a cage. I have yet to see a GT3RS up on Palomar.

DRL,

On a side note, I have had run-ins with bugs much like you and I have found that Gunk's Tar n Bug Remover worked best for me. I don't think Pepboys on el Camino Real stocks Gunk. I ordered it online.
