4.0 RS or 430 Scuderia?
I have to be honest- I would have just as much of an issue deciding as the OP. I believe that JPS has the best point of any that I have seen so far. Automated manual or a true manual. The only right answer is the one you believe to be best. This is probably what I see to be the biggest difference as it sums up the driving experience that I have read on both. Either way it is a wonderful position to be in. I would probably error on the side of the Porsche, but that is simply because I would imagine that you could trade out of it for break even for at least a few months and a few thousand miles. Either way enjoy savoring the gift of being able to be in this position
I had a similar decision to make. Mine was the GT2RS vs the 430 Scud.
I selected the RS.
For me it was better and closer dealer support and the P car had a lot more daily driver options such as a real nav system.
From an depreciation factor the RS is easier to live with with because of its limited run, however this is also its biggest problem. Let me explain.
Like the GT2 RS the 4.0 RS is a limited run production car. If you put it on the track and subsequently bend it or break it you can not replace it - its a limited run. Keep that in mind. I know people at Porsche and every time I bring up the 2 RS and a track, they remind me of its limited nature and tell me to really think twice. So the 4 RS, like the 2 rs, at the end of the day is a very expensive track day option.
So here is my summary. If your going to the track, pick something less. Most cant drive their cars to the limit and you will not be pissed about track rash on a lesser and replaceable for less than a mortgage option.
If you want a weekend warrior to take on trips on mountain roads and do a bit of exploring. the RS 4 It is reliable and has a nav that will get you were you are going. FYI not one GT2RS was ordered striped - they all had NAV.
If your going to the club. the 430. It will turn heads, its loud and at the end of the day its a 430 so you can get parts if someone opens a door into it. Its also a great getaway to the mountains car (as long as you know where you are going). Let me explain this comment a bit. the 430 scud is a much more shoutty car. its loud, its a ferrari, its loud. You will drive down the road and kids will be taking cell phone video's of you while they tail gate you. Most dont know what a 4 RS is and you can blend into the road. So let me say this a bit better if you want a look at me car the Scud. A driver that will not get you on video every time you go down the road. the RS 4
