Thinking about switching from F430 to 997.2 GT3

I switched earlier this year from a 997.1 C2S to a F430, but am really missing the Porsche. All my friends think I'm crazy.

The car I'm currently looking at is a 2010 Guards red GT3 with 5k miles on the clock.

Options:

* Clubsport package with CF bucket seats and roll cage
* Full leather
* Center console in leather
* 90L fuel tank
* Navigation with sound package plus and iPod/aux & usb connection

Has anyone here made a similar switch?

Personally I would keep the F430, if you miss the Porsche than go with your gut and jump on the GT3.

I did the switch. I went from a 99 f355 f1 spyder to a 996 tt and i have never looked back. I was to tired of the maintenance of the f car and the wife hated it.

Since my 996 i have had a blast. Do not go back. In my opinion.

The f car is a real looker and everyone stares ( i got real tired of that) cool to start with but not for long.

My p car is a driver. I can turn the key and go where ever i want. I did not trust my ferrari to go to the next town over without problems

the maintenance cost is not even close. You know that though.

Just my opinion

For street use I would say a toss up. Personal choices vary as you can see.

For track use, gt3 hands down, assuming you don't have the scuderia.

Great issue to have!

No doubt they vary, but I thought I would see more pro-GT3 posts here.

My plan was to spend a few days on the track with this car, I could never see myself doing the same thing with the Ferrari.

In my opinion, I would have the Ferrari as a refined princess. I would not drive it as a DD, and would have an issue going to the office every day with a Ferrari. I had the same issue with an Aston I owned a few years back. I tried not to drive to certain places because it just did not feel comfortable. The Pcar is my DD and I have not felt uncomfortable at all driving her places. Just my .2

Maybe enjoy your current 430 and wait and see what the new 991 GT cars look like?

For me, I get in and out of moods of how track focused a car I want. Currently have gt3rs and would consider moving to a cup car if I wanted more speed out of it. Than I can't enjoy it on the street... and maintenance picks up considerably.

Had a chance to try a 458 and a Lp570 on Las Vegas motor speedway, liked the 458 best. Very fast, balanced and liveable car for day to day use, but also quite a bit more money.

Decisions, decisions...

If you miss the Porsche feel, get the GT3 - it's a fantastic car. Since the 430 is not doing it for you (which is really hard to believe), there's no sense keeping it. 911's are great cars - I enjoyed the ones I had - but there's just something about the Ferrari. It feels like a four-wheeled motorcycle. I made the opposite swap - GT3 to 430. I really liked the GT3, but the 430 is awesome. I can understand your friends' reactions.

Bottom line, though...do what makes you happy.

I went from a 430 to a GT3 and have no regrets and never looked back.

The 430 was exciting but I just never felt comfortable piling on the miles. And, driving it on the track was a bit nerve racking. The thought of wadding up a $250k car on the track was a bit distracting.

If you can, own both or go for a Scuderia.
