2011 GT3 RS 4.0 OEM seats
2011 GT3 RS 4.0 OEM seats
I recently took delivery of my 2011 GT3 RS 4.0. I took over someone else's order. By the the time that I took over the order, the factory build sheet was fixed and no further changes could be made.
My RS 4.0 was built with black leather adaptive sport seats c/w red alcantara centre cushion inserts. Had I ordered this vehicle, I would have most certainly had it built with sport bucket seats. To make matters worse, my black leather interior has red deviating stitching yet my adaptive seats weren't ordered with red stitching and have black stitching...
I'm trying to source a pair of OEM 2011 GT3 RS 4.0 black leather sport bucket seats c/w red alcantara centre cushions and deviating red stitching. I've spoken with the Parts Departments at two local Porsche dealerships and I get the impression that they can't get them for me for a number of reasons not the least of which is that the seats I'm looking for don't match that original build seats...therefore Porsche's "obligation" to make "replacement parts" available to me doesn't apply.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get a pair of OEM seats as outlined above? I know that there are plenty of after market solutions out there but I'm very interested in keeping this component of the vehicle OEM.
Any ideas for a work-around on this would be much appreciated.

Thanks Tom. I know that I can find OEM sport buckets with red alcantara centre cushions. The challenge is the red deviating stitching and the embroidered RS 4.0 in the headrest.
If I could find OEM sport buckets with black leather and red alcantara centre cushions, I might be able to find a craftsman able to dismantle the seat back so I can have the "RS 4.0" embroidered in the headrest before reassembly.

Crazy as it sounds, do you think that I could buy a pair of GT3/GT2 sport bucket seats as close as possible and then basically "re-build" to my specs using individual parts ordered from Porsche? I don't know whther it is possible to do so and even if it is, it may cost a small fortune to do so.
Brownan, do you haul your RS with an open or closed trailer? I lean towards getting an open one for reduced weight and all round ease of access. However, in 2013 I hope to travel towards the south during the winter to try and keep tracking between November and May. In this case a closed trailer would be an obvious asset.

You're right...I clarified with our parts dep't. They're saying that yes, it was a factory option on the new vehicle order guides, but after the fact, it's not.
