Another GT3RS - 4.0 Hits The Streets
First thing first: I want to shout out a special thank you to the people that made this deal happen. Without them, I would not been the new owner of such a great car. First thanks to "GT Cole" for making some calls and getting me a car in the first place. Next I would like to extend a special thank you to Casey Parkin at Porsche of Silver Spring. HE and the staff have been nothing but 100% professional from start to finish. The entire process was handled the way he said it would be with no dealer BS or double take. Thank you Casey. Lastly send a thank you to Jim Lannom at Park Place Porsche in Dallas, Tx. This is the dealer that Casey set up for my "Courtney Delivery" since the state of MD was to far for me. PP Porsche also has a great staff and Jim is a true professional. Again, thanks guys.
Ready, set go.
My RS came in about two weeks ago when I was at Rennsport Reunion. Picked it up last Thursday. Whats there to say about it, well.......
Torque, Noise, Sound, Torque, Noise.
Torque; The fist thing I noticed was the big torque increase over my 3.8RS. You hear the increased engine size in the idle as well as when you rev. The numbers on paper don't translate well to the "seat of the pants" you feel when driving. Mind you I have only revved the engine to 5K (seating rings, running thru gears) thus far but WOW. If you floor it you can really feel all of the extra .2 CI let me tell ya. It pulls from 2500-5000 in no time. Be it 3 gear, forth gear or hell, sixth gear, its pulls. Granted its no big block Mopar but for Porsche its a start.
Noise; This thing must have less that less sound deadening material then the 3.8RS has because the interior is loud IMO. At 75-85 MPH on the Highway windows up or down, forget about talking. You would be better off wearing ear plugs or a two way radio. I got the base radio on my car so you get what you get. The sound is great, don't get me wrong, I like it, I just would never want this day in and day out.
Intake; The sound of the intake is over the top. That thing makes so much sucking sounds you better keep small kids and pets at a safe distance let me tell ya. At 3k The intake comes alive. Very deep toned, not busy. Reminded me as a kid flipping the air cleaner lid over on my dads truck or the sound side draft carbs make on a Z-car. Again all good.
Other; The ride is firm and inputs are very sharp. Fit and finish, same same, standard Porsche. Over all love the car, after breaking it in I will give it a better review.
Thanks

You have quite possibly the only situation i could imagine not to track that car with the colonel handling race duties. For once I encourage you to bubble wrap that thing and sit it in a corner. But if you decide to do a few laps in it I won't complain.

Congrats again on the car! Looks fantastic, I will make sure to bring my earplugs when you take me for a ride next time I visit LA.
Edit: Let me know if you need a set of clear sidemarkers.
