Unusual DME scan...

I'm close to finalizing a deal for a used GT3 and just got the DME scan and it wasn't at all what I expected. There are zero ignitions in any range. I've never seen that... Clearly that is ideal, but for a GT3 it seems a little strange? Thoughts? Is there anyway to manipulate any of this info? It is certified and at a p car dealer. So I'm not too worried about it, but just curious what others think.

I would say that one was driven by a grandma that never hit the red line.

Maybe someone else can chime in as to whether a complete ECU reflash would get rid of ignitions only and not wipe out the total hours.

If it has been serviced regularly and the services are documented then it certainly could be a car that has never hit redline. I would br more concerned about lugging. These engines do not like to be lugged. Have you asked the dealer whether you can speak with the prior owner?

Good question. Anyone know the answer to this?

I have seen the complete history and it looks good. Always serviced at the p car dealer and never any issues. I'm going to ask to speak to the previous owner. Good call. Thank you. Never thought about lugging...

It is certainly possible that the PO just drove it around on weekends and kept it between 3000 and 4000 RPM's but just cruised around. If you are able to speak to the previous owner you could ask how it was driven, what he kept the RPM's at when he drove it, when it was traded, what it was traded for, whether it has been in any fender benders, garaged, etc.

It certainly looks like following up about. The GT3 is an incredible car.

If you end up buying a car in Florida, look into having DeMoise Trucking get it to California for you. They have shipped five cars for me and have done a fabulous job. They have shipped my Turbo Cab from Tennessee, My GT3 RS from
brumos in Jacksonville, an old race car to Las Vegas, etc.

No affiliation. PM me for details.

I absolutely did... That's how I got all this info. Everything looks great and the deal is essentially complete. That was just the one thing that struck me as odd. Thanks!

How many miles on the car?

Some people don't even feel the need to redline the car at all. I've seen it.

I'm located in Miami, I can take it for a test drive if you want

Try out the redline for me? Haha. It has right around 11K on it... A little strange. But maybe it was all about image for the PO and not about seeing what the car can do...

I just bought a 997.1GT3 with 11,000 miles, it has extensive track mods, and has been tracked a lot. It had 4 level 1 over revs.

As far as I am aware, there is no way to change this read out.

Where were you when I had my car shipped from Florida? I had a terrible time with the company used by Reeds in Tampa .

I guess in all fairness I haven't looked at a ton of DME scans... It's possible he was just a good driver. How many hours on your 11K mile GT3? This one has 515 so he averaged around 20MPH.

IIRC, it had about 300.

Don't buy a car solely on a DME, lots of other things are more important then a few over revs. They key things I asked the local dealer to looked for was synchro's and the LSD. Contact your local dealer and ask them what other things they commonly see as problems on these cars.
