GT3 wing on a 997.1???

My friend just upgraded his GT3 3.7 to a cup car wing since it is mostly a track car. I asked and he said I could have first chance on the stock wing. The air intakes and fan position are different on both cars, is there a way to make the deck lid compatible to work on my 997.1? I know that aftermarket companies make different inner lids that fit but I wanted to have a real Porsche part instead of aftermarket. If the engine cover can't be modified, could I use a GT3 air box?
I remember reading somewhere you can do it if you replace the air box with a cone filter setup like a Fabspeed unit, but I would rather keep a stock enclosed filter setup.
I asked in the 997 forum but no now had any idea.
Any info would be appreciated

Ask the guys at Suncoast Porsche. Board sponsors here. Look to your right for their ad and site link. If I recall, there is a body kit for the 997.1, so the parts should be available. Good luck.

I am getting the stock GT3 wing, I don't need a body kit, I just want to know if I can make it fit.

I am unclear on what wing your refuring to but if its this wing than some carreras came with the motorsports bodykit from the factory as an option. I am told its on Carrera S versions and I am not sure about just reg. carreras (I dont know what you have either - just trying to help)

If this was me I would contact Ryan @ Suncoast and ask him if it works or fits.

Let me clarify what I meant: Since there is an aerokit available, Suncoast (or any dealer) can probably provide a list of all parts and part numbers that will be necessary for the decklid to work on the 997. Lopro: Thanks for trying to help out.

Can the stock wing that comes on a 3.8L GT3, fit on a 2006 Carrera S 997.1, I dont think I can make it any simpler. Not the aero kit wing, the later GT3 wing, the one with the end plates that have 3.8 imbossed in them.

I am asking because I can get the wing from my friend who has taken it off his car to replace it with a cup car wing.

I think we were just trying to help - But in any case it would have been more clear by saying ...

997.2 gt3 wingon 997.1 carrera s -or- 2010 gt3 wingon 2008 Carrera S CAR

I do not know - If you can get it and its your freind then why not just park the two side by side and try to make it work.

I think if you called suncoast to ask you would get a stright answer and things would be really simple - then you could post it in here and let us all know

2008 Carrera S with GT3 kit

Hey bud! I just bought my 2008 Carrera S which came with an OEM GT3 wing. I do not have any details on it, but at least you know it is technically possible to have the wing fit this car.

If I understand it properly, a standard Carrera (997.1) and GT3 (997.2) decklids have the same mounting, hinges, and overall dimensions. So fitting the decklid shouldn't be a problem, from what I can tell. Maybe consider upgrading to the GT3 rear hood shock, I believe it's stronger.

The airbox? Well, the lower box mounts are the same on both Carrera & GT3 models, but I'm not sure about the hose connection, or any other pieces which might impede the installation. I'm guessing a custom hose could be required to fit a GT3 airbox, looks like the GT3 throttle body will be much bigger. So, I doubt it's a direct fit with factory parts. See if your buddy will let you borrow his airbox for 10 minutes. haha

If it came with the decklid harness, then the fan should work properly. The same fan is also used on Carrera models with Aerokit, so from what I can tell, it's fully compatible. If you don't have the harness, you will need it. Let me know, I think I can help with that.

If you have any other questions, send a PM and I'll see what I can find. Best of luck, this would be a cool decklid! Just try to test it before you buy it, if possible.
