991

So, you can now buy a Carrera S with a Power Kit and and aerokit.
The car will have 430 HP and will undoubtedly keep with with GT3 997.1 !!

Yeah, you're right about that.
But I owned a 997 C2S before the current GT3, and it was a sweet ride.
The new 991 is even sweeter.

991 will certainly have a lot of creature comforts and should be nearly as quick as a GT3.

But, some will still like the GT3 experience with a more raw feel and steering preciseness.

It will flat out pass a 997.1 GT3. The 9A1 engine is reliable too with no coolant leaks out back.

The 991 w/powerkit may pass a gt3 on the street or track- but it doesn't steer / sound / feel the same, and there's no way I would trade in my 997.1 GT3 + $50-60K for the new 991!

my guess the new GT3 will probably be a base of $130k plus options. So, fully loaded cars will be pushing north of $150K.

Makes the existing GT3's seem like a bargain.

Anyone want my '10 GT3 for $90k?

The questions we should ask ourselves...

Does the 991S have the same geometry in the suspension layout?

What is the WEIGHT difference?

What are the other mechanical differences?

I went round and round over this whole "Why buy a GT3" thing when I had my 996TT. All I can say is there's a real GOOD reason that there are so many ads with every other model 911 in them, but you rarely ever see ads to "improve" upon a GT3. Look in Excellence... The only pics of GT3s are in Race team ads, or race series ads...

You want to order a 991S so it'll make the HP. Sure, if you're only looking at one narrow dimension in the whole of the platform. But if you're looking at the total package? No question... GT3.

Mike

This was the same conversation when the 993 was on its way out and the 996 was on its way in.... Forward progress is a good thing..... I like the 997 Models dont get me wrong but the 991 is the next step forward.. 10 years from now well rehash this when the 991 replacement arrives
