Anyone know this GT3RS?
Anyone know this GT3RS?
Hello,
I'm a long-time member of 6speed. I just sold my 996 Turbo, and I am looking to get into a 997.2 GT3 or GT3RS. I found a car that looks interesting to me. Here is the link:
http://inventory.switchcars.com/card...AC2A93BS783066
Does anyone know this car? I believe that the car is in Las Vegas, and that the owner also has a cup car.
Any and all comments would b appreciated.
Thanks,
Jon

I don't get why people with obvious means wouldn't spend the extra money on a decent clear bra or wrap to protect the OEM finish. There are other examples out there for the same coin. Jon, they typically start to free up in October/November, through March. Right now isn't the greatest time to shop for GT3s or RS'!

Unless...
Me too. Not that many of them around. Now to find one that doesn't have a questionable past...
If anyone sees or has one, please let me know.

Switchcars has a very good reputation over many years. Because other posters have no idea of the area from which this car is being sold they don't know that Spring Mountain track, where this branch of Switchcars is located has some big gravel in the runoff areas. One single time behind a guy who hooked an apex will cause the rock chips you see. No protection film will help.
The pictures show a seller who is intent on full disclosure of the smallest details to avoid complaining by **** buyers after the fact. The car's owner is exceptionally oriented towards maintenance of his cars and a buyer should consider himself fortunate to buy from him.
There is no "perfect" car and if a buyer thinks a few rock chips are the end of the world, he doesn't deserve to own one of these anyhow.
Just really burned out on these date a *****/marry a virgin type posts. Don't have a dog in the fight other than I know of the owner/seller involved and hate to read speculative BS.
For a serious buyer of a lovely Aqua Blue RS, this is a great opportunity.

The rock chips don't concern me so much. You track the car, you're going to get them. And I agree with you that the owner has been more than forthcoming about that with all of the photos he has posted. And, switchcars has also been very straightforward about it, and has provided me with info I requested.
It's the mechanical history of the car that I am trying to find out about. My last car (996 Turbo) had a hard life before I got it, and I ended up paying for a lot of that.

Agreed. If you want it to look new, then you should buy it out of the showroom. You can't expect to buy a gt3 rs that has not been driven, that is what they were built for. There might be some others out there that have hidden the cosmetics better, but i am sure they have been driven just the same.
3M protection woulda helped... We got the same problems at many of the tracks I run at. So that's a **** poor excuse. And sorry, but when it's your money you can dictate was is or isn't acceptable. For the price being asked, I'd expect better condition. That's my "opinion".

That usually tells a story about how well the car was cared for (overall.)I bought my 08' GT3 RS from R&H Collectables and it was stunning "perfect" in every way with 5k on the clock.
Nope dude, It's all us "screw the ******, marry the princes" guys who don't turn wrenches and don't know what we're talking about...
Jon, You know what I do in my shop and what I'd consider acceptable. My recently aquired 2004 GT3 looked as new, minus the 6 pin head rockchips on the lower front bumper.
How the previous owner may or may not have enjoyed the car should be irrelivent to the buyer. This notion that you or I should just "accept that the seller is a good dude and used it as designed is rubish. $130K?
How it appears represents how it was used and how it was maintained. But that's just me.

A few rock chips?? Yikes ! It looks like he drove down a rock strewn dirt road behind a Jeep to work everyday

Additionally, someone selling a car after owning it for months, wanting top dollar for the vehicle (just like someone selling a house) should have had it touched up or painted prior to selling - or hear/listen to commentary on the condition of the car. The OP wanted opinions and that's what he got.
I would be very concerned, with anyone selling a one-year old car, this chipped up with those miles, about how the vehicle was maintained. Unless proven otherwise - to me - abused outside = abused inside. As stated earlier, anyone who can afford a dedicated GT3 track car, can certainly afford to protect it. And if he/she didn't, what else did they neglect?
