Thanks

jakegt3 is on a distinguished road
I've been running a set of PSS for mixed track and street use for about a year. It adds up to about 7,000 miles total, of which nearly 2,000 are track miles. The tires are pretty much used up at this point. They are probably good for a another couple track days. The outer shoulders are soft and do wear quite quickly compared to the rest of the tire. I've dialed in a fair amount of negative camber (-2.3 deg F, -1.8 deg R), but the outer shoulders still wear down pretty fast.

For mixed DE/street use, I think it's a great tire. They have tons of grip on the track. Sure, they don't have the ultimate grip of a real track day tire like the Sport Cups, but unless you are chasing the last 1 or 2 seconds on your lap times, you'll do fine. They also are very, very good in the rain.

On my GT3, I find that hot pressures of 36F/38R are about optimal on the track. If you let the rears go over 40 psi, they get slippery real quickly and the car oversteers. Also, you don't want to let the differential pressure between front and rear get too large because that will also contribute to oversteer.

They have arrived, just got to get them fitted which here in Perth isn't as easy as you would think. To protect their 2x price hikes garages here will only fit tyres they have sold!!?? What a con and closed shop mentality. for the money I'll save I may just buy a tyre machine and balancer myself!

James,

I know the problem you're having as I used to get the same issue when I got new Advans and wanted them put on the WRX I used to race.

I ended up using Kewdale Tyres, but they will probably be a bit of a hike for you to come over to this neck of the woods. Plus I wouldn't leave the car with them if get what I'm saying, I just took the wheels in the van.

Give Andy Stack from Rennsport a call. He looks after both my cars, he has a tyre and alignment guy that he swears by for Pcars.

PM me where you got the tyres from and how much you paid, so I know when I need some myself.

Cheers
Dave.

PM sent Dave, happy to help.

I've moved to Waterford so Kewdale isn't far so will give them a shout. I don't trust anyone lol so I was only going to be dropping the wheels and tyres off lol!

Is Rennsport in Fremantle??

Cheers James,

I'll keep them in mind when I need the tyres. I'm still on the Yokohamas that came with the car and they seem to be wearing really well. Let me know your feedback on the PSS. What do you have on there now ?

Yeah, Rennsport is in North Freo on Stirling Hwy. Bit of a hike but I don't let anyone else touch my cars

Dave.

Feedback will follow for sure.

I'll make Mr Stack an a acquittance, thank you for the nod in his direction.

Running MPSC but their life is too short for a DD.

Cheers

Right they are fitted. They do look different due to the rim protection and just for aesthetics I preferred the cups side walls as they are 'cleaner' but theres not much in it plus having shaved the paint on one of my wheels getting slightly to close to a curb while driving enthusiastic having rim protection is a good thing.

They also look like offroad tyres compared to the cups due to the extra tread but you can't see this on the car.

Will bed them in over the weekend.

Cheers
Jay

Fine for a lower cost street alternative but they can't match MPSC. Next time I'll try Pirelli Trofeo R's.

I bought PSS with my 19" track wheels on my 991C2S, and drove on the street and mountains for about 200 miles before taking them to a 2-day track event.

The tires are quiet, compliant, and grippy on the street and mountain roads, and I am very impressed by its performance on the street.

At the first day of the track I monitored the hot pressure of the tires, keeping it 32-34 front, and 34-36 rear, and they held up well on the track.

At the second day, I neglected to watch the hot pressure as closely as my first day because the weather was cooler, and I was experiencing understeer during one session. I checked the hot pressure right after it was over, and found the front pressure near 40. I dropped it back into the 32-34 range and found grip again, although not as good as the first day. I believe that I might have overheated the tires.

My conclusion is that they are excellent for street and good for 1-day track event, but if you want more time on the track, competition tires with R compounds are still the way to go.
