Holy... how is that engine still running?

Worst DME report I have seen if I'm reading it right. From my understanding, just a few in 5 or 6 could mean engine damage. I would stay away, keep looking.

What's the total # of hours on the engine? It seems like there was one event that occured at 159.4 hours that probably triggered range 4-6.

Buying from a Dealer? Is the car CPO? If private deal, I would move on... as Warranty may be void. If from Dealer and they will CPO the car with those #'s you are okay. As they will warranty the car. However, I think if this is after a CPO, then this could void warranty. I am not an expert on this, but maybe others can chime in.

Is it possible to get CPO from a dealer if you get a car in private party deal?

Interpreter?

No CPO if purchase is not from dealer. Many after market warranties out there. Lots of posts on that if you search. I have an aftermarket on mine as I purchased used from a non P car dealer.

Can anyone explain the report above? Greek to me and I would like to really understand it. I mean I know what the test is set up to find, blown shifts/over revs, but how do the above numbers get interpreted? Sharky or Dan, can you elaborate?

Can be done and has been done but it's not cheap though.

Typically a CPO will cost you $2500 + what ever it takes to bring the car back to the certified level (brakes/tires/other repairs)

You can not get a CPO if there are more then 2 re-sprayed panels not to mention any evidence of frame damage.

Hope that helps?

You seem to be missing some info. Can you re-paste? I think you only posted the data from 1-5.

Assuming the data is for range 6, it shows a mechanical over-rev in the highest recordable RPM range. Range 6 could cause damage. Range 5 is okay, so long as that car has shown 50 hours since the over-rev was recorded. in this case, you are about 50 hours from the range 5 over-rev since the last range 2 over-rev. I would take the car to a dealer for PPI and have the dealer verify if in fact the remaining factory warranty is valid given this DME report. If they verify in writing, then you should be okay. These motors can rev well beyond the limit for a small amount of time.. sometimes, the outcome is not so lucky and damage happens. How does the car drive?

This is the first DME report I've seen with igntions in range 6. My take, "i was crusing in 5th at about 4800RPM then downshifted to 4th, but actually hit 2nd and bam"

regardless of operting hours after the incident, CPO, blah blah I would walk away.

Cool

I believe the formatting should have been this:

Number of ignitions range 1
599 / 206.6h
Number of ignitions range 2
333 / 198.9h
Number of ignitions range 3
159 / 159.4h
Number of ignitions range 4
141 / 159.4h
Number of ignitions range 5
107 / 159.4h
Number of ignitions range 6

This is a CPO from a dealer GT3RS

And what does the dealer have to say about this? "They all do that; perfectly normal!"

Pretty sure that range 6 is over 10k rpm. The math goes like this:

(107 ignitions)/(3 ignitions/rotation)/(10000 rot/min)*(60 sec/min) = 0.2 sec in Range 6.

The numbers in Ranges 3-5 are included in the 107. So the motor had one excursion into Ranges 3-6, for a total of less than about 1 second. It happened at least 47 engine hours ago, which mediates it a bit. Still a risk.
