991 GT3 -> PDK Only!
991 GT3 -> PDK Only!
Not sure if there are rules against posting links to another forum, guess I will find out.
The 991 GT3 was always in the back of my mind as a future option, but not anymore.
No manual -> No Thanks. Am I being stubborn? Probably. But tell me that shifter doesn't look out of place in a GT3!

Sad, really. I figured Porsche, of all companies, would understand how glorious the GT3 is with a manual gearbox. There's a reason why they never offered an autotragic in the 996 or 997. A manual as an option would be just fine, but I guess beating the dumb GT-R around the 'Ring is all too important for them...
I would totally rock paddles. Having driven a sequentially with auto blip in my cup, I have experienced first hand what easier shifting can do. It is safer and allows more focus on precise braking, steering and throttle inputs. Shifting is a formality. And if the competition has it, why be at a disadvantage. I am getting a 991 cup and will love the paddles!
i don't get why porsche isn't making a manual since 991s has a manual already
i also don't understand why porsche continues to make stupid buttons instead of paddles on the PDK as standard.
i am less impressed with porsche's BS that upcharges on everything. i just bought a M3 for less than price of a Boxster S as a daily. it's a better car IMO. i love porsche but the greedy corporate is really driving the prices up with silly decisions on products.

The first thought that we through my mind when reading the title of this post was "ah crap, really?". Anyway I plan to head to the Geneva car show in March, which if reports are to believed is where this baby will be launched, will reserve my final judgment for when I see the 991 in person....

Why can't they have the PDK to pamper the magazine stats and a manual option for those that care more about the experience, not numbers?

That engine is old and outdated, it's time for some new technology. However 20's, electric steering, electric sway bars and PDK only speaks volumes. Nothing exciting about the new GT3. Would rather have a Z06, ZR1 or Viper. Something with character. As far as I'm concerned Porsche is engineering all of the character out of the GT3.
