2011 997.2 GT3 RS Power Gain

Have a question for everyone. I have done some extensive reaserch on my vehicle. Apparently, there is no intake system available for a GT3 RS newer than 2010. Fitment issues. No idea. The only power gain is an ECU upgrade (that I know of). How the frig can I make this car faster HP wise? I tried to buy a Fabspeed intake -- didn't work. I tried GruppeM, that didn't work. I ave tried to research kits online. Nothing will seem ti fit this car and I have no idea why. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

In our experience, the factory airbox on the .2 GT3RS is the most functional. Hard to believe, but yes, Porsche got it right on that one.

As for power gains, your options are exhaust and ECU.

ECU nets you about 10-15hp, and and exhaust maybe a few more. Another benefit of the exhaust is that you can shed about 50-60 pounds from the rear of the car, or more if you do full side muffler deletes.

The naturally aspirated RS cars have historically not been the best starting bed for extreme hp....they're handling cars, which they do pretty well. But for power gains...a turbo would be a better choice unfortunately.

Thanks

Well thanks for that! I forgot to mention I do have the Sharkwerks muffler bypass system on there. I'm extremely happy with the car to be honest. Just wanted some input. Thanks!

Consider losing some weight on the button if you can live with replacing the side muffler and hooking it up w m&m muffler. I contact Eddie at rpm at rennlist... Or is he here on 6speed? Proven hp gains and weight loss....

We've also got a side muffler bypass that would save you tons of weight. Includes valves too so it's not overly loud all the time.

Hey Tom

It said the site was under construction but based on the pics how do you control the valves? Assuming it using the sport button line to control?

Can you pm me details please? Thanks!

Yeah...sorry about that. Our site was taken down by some hackers just after Christmas and we're still trying to get it back up and running.

These muffler bypasses are made by Tubi. The valves on them are controlled exactly the same way the valves on the factory mufflers are... either by the sport button, or by vacuum under hard acceleration.

Best upgrade would be to bite the bullet and go for the 4.0. I did and haven't looked back. I used to long for more power but no more. The 4.0 engine is truly amazing. Only negative is the $$$. But since you didn't mention price as a consideration, thought I would have some fun and throw it out there as an option to an ECU.

You're in NY? Send your car to Rick DeMan or Spencer *** and have them do a 4.0L conversion on it. That will get you some extra HP to the extent you can't live with 450.

For bolt on power, remove the cats or go to 200 cell cats. Outside of that, not much else for power.

Do you have any videos showing the sound when using the Tubi.

To the OP,

There are a few ways to improve power/torque on the 3.8RS.
The biggest bottle neck on the car is on the exhaust side. You can have some decent gains, with headers, exhaust and reflash, anything over that, you will need a increase in displacement, head, cams etc...
I got roughly 26-28WHP with the combo, tested same day on the dyno.

Here is the thread, and learn that the comparison in this case was between a 2011 GT3RS with 2006 GT3 CUP headers and exhaust, therefore the gains are not SO high.

You have the option of having this system in stainless steel or Titanium, just like the one on the thread.

Curious will this set up connect with the Shark Werk bypass?
