991 GT3 on WSJ

You may need a subscription but here it is described by CEO of Porsche.

He expects 10% of all 991 sold in US will be GT3.

Available in November.

$130k base.... I'd guess most GT3's will be $150k+. My 2010 was $145k.

With GT3 all being PDK's, I can see it too, all those who can't drive manuals or don't want to drive manuals before will opt for it now.

There not many must have options on line right now. Not even seats.

In time probable yes.

130k still gets you an amazing car.

In 2012 Porsche sold 8008 911's. 10% would only be 800 cars. Not very many for the US. I believe Ferrari sells more in the US. However, I do agree Porsche broaden its market base by making the car more amenable to DD especially with PDK. But they also made it with a harder edge for performance. This $130,000 car will spank the 458, GT-R, Gallardo, Corvette and most other cars in performance. The best of both worlds for the price.

That's a bit optimistic....... VERY VERY VERY optimistic in fact. Not even likely to beat the last generation Corvette let alone the new one.

Smile

Porsche claims the 991GT3 will do the Ring in less than 7:30. None of the cars I listed come even close to that time. it is also predicted that the GT3 will do Hochenheim in 1:08 minutes which is faster than all cars except for dedicated track cars. Finally, 0-60 in 3.3 sec. is hard to be unless you are in a TT.

You are joking right? The GT-R, Corvette ZR-1, Corvette ZO6, and 458 Italia have all lapped the Nordschleife in under 7:30. In fact, the GT-R and ZR-1 have lapped it in under 7:20. That's not to say the 991 GT3 isn't a great car. However, I don't think it is accurate to say that these other cars don't come close to the GT3 in performance.

I am referring to production cars not factory tuned cars. Hell the VIper beats them all if we use that as a criteria. When the 458 first came out it was slightly faster than the 430 Scuderia which did the Ring in over 7:30. Suddenly the 458 is doing it in the mid 7:20's. Give me a break.
