No need to PM the preventative measures. Please just post some up. I have a feeling there will be many people wanting to know including myself.

nothing secretive.. just check clutch/flywheel while engine is out. Also, good time to upgrade to semi solid engine mounts if you dont have one, check water pump, all the hoses. While at it, why not upgrade to semi solid tranny mount and cup cables. Do it all while it is getting the surgery. =)

I agree with Kormaster.

Semi-solid gear box and engine mounts
Cup or Numeric Racings cables
Weld hose fittings
Clucth assembly

My 996GT3 is currently undergoing preventative coolant line welds. While the engine is out, getting water pump replaced, changing out the 9yr old hoses and coolant reservoir, upgrading the tranny mount with 997 version and engine mounts with RSS. I was having trouble shifting from 2nd to 3rd on the track so the transmission is being worked on. Finally, got a set of the Numeric cables to be installed.

Tomorrow is the 12th. My fingers are not crossed. I predict another extension.

Any updates or did some one file for another extension so 'they' can evaluate a little longer. PAG is probally weighing the ROI on NOT issuing a recall vs the possible damage to the brand. I hope bean counters that caused this went by the wayside like their last CEO.

UPDATE

Just called NHTSA and asked what the status was regarding the coolant leak. Responce was confounding. The gentelman stated, "we currently are not investigating this vehicle, seeing as we only have one (1) complaint regarding coolant loss." I asked what happened to the other 15/20 I know about via this forum. "Sorry sir we only have one complaint" , was his response again.

Can someone verify my results? I called NHSTA. Did I call the wrong agency?

Here is the contact information I received from NHTSA when I filed my complaint of coolant system failure back in May, 2013. At the time, they gave me a claim number and indicated they had received other complaints.

Interesting that it covers model year 2010-2011 turbos/GT2 too. I though only the Mezger/GT1 engine was affected.

I have already spoken to them. I have a "claim" number as well. I believe I had what I needed to ask the questions and get an answer, no?
