new GT3 wide body???
new GT3 wide body???
i was looking on the porsche website and on the 'standard equipment list" under the body section it states thats: 'two-seater coupe' with wide 911 Turbo body'...is this correct or is this a typo??
It is correct I believe. The GT3 uses the rear turbo wide body for the rear panels.
Here are the widths of each 991 sub-model from Porsche technical specifictaions, width with mirrors folded.
C2S 71.18 inches
C4S 72.91 inches
GT3 72.91 inches
T 74 inches
TS 74 inches
T= Turbo, TS = Turbo S
So the GT3 uses the C4S widebody.
Internet suspicion says GT3RS will use 74 inch wide Turbo body.
Previous generation GT3s used the C2S narrowbody.

TS 74 inches
T= Turbo, TS = Turbo S

I know the 996 GT3 was a narrow body like the 996 Carrera.
I believe the 997 GT3 was a wide body, the same as the 997 C4/C4S. And the 997 GT3 RS/4.0 was the same as the 997 Turbo.
The 991 will probably follow this same pattern.

997 RS4.0 - 72.9 in

I think the Porsche site still says the Gt3 has the turbo body width, because it did at the time since the 991 turbo was released later. So, the new GT3 has the same width as the old 997 turbo.

This can't be correct. The S versions of both cars are wider than the standard. The C2S & C4S have the same body as the turbo in the 997 series.

The S has no bearing on widebody at all. The 997 widebodies were the C4 and C4S, the Turbo variants and the 997 GT3 RS(and RSR) and GT2
997, 997S and 997 GT3 were all narrow body 911's.

What do ya know! I always thought the S versions were wide body.
Was it that way for the 996 also? I thought I remember a difference back then between the C4 & C4s. I guess I incorrectly assumed that carried over.

You are right about the S versions being wider in both the 993 and 996 iterations. In both those iterations the C4S used the Turbo body but with the same engine as the non-S versions. With the 997, S versions marked a different engine and HP instead of a different body. Once again REIDRY is correct with the stats!

Thanks for the clarification Reirdry and SpeeddemonC2!
