what do I buy?
what do I buy?
I want to get into something newer. Here are the one I have narrowed it down to:
F430 (needs to be manual and carbon ceramics which may take a year to find)
997 GT2
Audi R8 V10 (needs to be manual and carbon ceramics as well)
997.2 GT3 RS (I need blue, with carbon ceramics)
My goal in two years was the get my first F car, it's just something I have always wanted to get into. I won't be tracking the car more than 1-2 times a year (not hard track days either, just spirited driving). Looking to use the car 1-2 times a week for a nice leisure drive. Total toy and not planning on DD.
They all have their pros and cons, I am leaning towards the F430 followed by the GT2.
Any insight or if it was your money what would you buy?
Thanks guys!

I would get the GT3 RS or GT2 RS as number one choices
audi r8 v10 2nd
These will be the easiest to find
My number one would be F430 but because of your mandatory requirements as you said it will be very hard to find.
Perhaps maybe you should look into the new c7 zo6 or new SRT viper.

good luck with the hunt!
F430? Get it if you want one. It won't be that much faster than ur GT3, but the sound and looks.
GT2? Will be stupid fast. And unique.
RS .2? Blue will look insane. Maybe only car you make money on.
Have fun. And report back

All great cars you're considering…I would start with a budget first and go that route. The market on some of your choices (Porsche models) favors sellers right now and you will be forced to pay a significant premium. IMO…timing isn't right and things will settle on these models next year. Good luck...

Or maybe I should just install the 2011 RS PCCB's I have sitting on my mattress on my 996....
In 12 months I've seen the .2RS increase about 20-30k. It gets simply ridiculous when you look at the 4.0 mark up now.
You may be able to find a high mileage sample out there that's seen heavy track/street in that range but I haven't seen it.
I do really like the 430 coupe. It doesn't have the performance to match the others mentioned but it compensates with great style and sweet sound. You're looking for a tougher combo though with 6spd. You will however be able to find one with carbon brakes and auto. Test drive some and provide your feedback here.

A nice black or red F430 manual, carbon ceramics, and aftermarket exhaust/tune is looking like the easy winner right about now if the RS and GT2's are going for that much.
I'm not concerned about speed, more concerned about the soul of a car. Straight line speed the f430 and GT3RS should be somewhat similar. On a track the F430 would get killed I know.
The R8 would be a decent choice as well it seems

I too agree that you should keep your 6GT3.
You will be lucky if you can sell it for close to 60K. 997.2GT3RS will be around $130K. Car for car, there is no way that my RS is worth 70K more than yours on the track.
I don't want you to regret selling your classic GT3.
If you want something newer for DD, add any 997 variants to your garage.

If you're thinking GT3 as a replacement then these four guides outline the differences of the platforms - sort of a FAQ if you will:

At your price point, you won't get CCBs......replacement costs are just stupid anyway......in fact maybe you can buy a set from someone looking to go steel.
But F430s aren't so good on a track anyway...
If I were you? There is a 360 Challenge Stradale with a $129k ask....now THAT is both a track weapon and a driver's car the F430 isn't....and rare enough so you can hang onto it.
Update, still looking for the ideal choice:
Pretty much decided on the F430, 6-speed manual and without CCB (seems like it just won't be found in a coupe at least)
Will still consider GT2/GT3.2 RS since I have a spare set of mint PCCB rotors and pads off a 2011 RS so I may as well use them one day haha! or sell them......Even though the ask prices are quite high are there any GT2's selling for 120000 or less out there?
What do you guys think should sell for reasonably.
